They ought to. And yes, it's good. Don't expect it to taste like cola though.
If I remember correctly this soda is based off of a soviet recipe for coffee extract, or something like that.

I find kofola really disgusting, even worse than coke. It has really weird kind of chemical aftertaste, I can't deal with it.

The translation is wrong, it is supposed to be pun.
Correct way should be :
"If you love her, there is nothing to question" as if to preserve the pun as kofola is considered feminine gender.
Also 'nothing too question' sounds fucking harsh, I cant translate it properly, but they try to express the fact that if you like girl/kofola, you like her and there is it, dont try to overthink it.

We even have ads like that for this product :

for me Yes, but you cant blindly compare it to Coke, it has different taste in Coke-ish way. Foreigners who arent used to it and try it dont like it on the first sip. Though it is competing against CocaCola and Pepsi pretty outstanding.

The history of this is that in Czech republic we wanted our version of Coca Cola, but only from local available ingredients, so we dont have to import.

pic unrelated

True that. My friends from other countries don’t like it at all because the liquirice-like aftertaste.

Never thought there’s lot of Czech people on here...

I have a family member who is Czech (through marriage) and have been over several times and also to Slovakia. I used to love this shit when I was young and in my teens but when I went back recently I had really gone off the taste. It is nothing like coke, let's get that straight. It has a sort of medicinal taste, but not like root beer I'd say. It is quite herbal in taste. I'd suggest to anyone to try order a bottle online, it's either something you'll love or hate. On a side note, I'm jealous of all the different brands and flavours of ice tea available in Czech Republic, in the UK we're limited to Liptons with two flavours being quite common and the other two not so much.

Exactly what I love about it. Also you can find different flavors of Kofola and some very limited editions eg. citrus, sour cherry, ginger bread, vanilla, cinnamon, walnut, marzipan, extra herbs, plum, apricot, pineaplle, coconut, chocolate...

Mind me, but I gotta throw in the bare fact, that Coke wasn't really all that available during the reign of socialist regime for it being considered as an outlet of capitalistic machinery. It wasn't really for the matter of nationalistic preference of domestic production in spite of imported goods. Though the idea of being self-sufficient was common ideological corner stone of the borderline satellite states of the Bloc
Though once you got the opportunity to buy some Coke in Tuzex (imported goods store; maintained and controlled by the state) or in a restaurant, it was hella pricey; one could easily say it was a luxury item for a common peon in the early years of socialist Tschechoslovakia.
Kofola was then basically a state funded project of using coffee processing waste rich in caffeine, combined it with herbal syrup and sugar base to make it palatable and ideally refine its flavour over the course of time. Subjectively speaking, though I'd say that its the same for my fellow countrymen, that it did hit the spot just right
