I am not drinking beer because I am not out with "the bros" yelling about sports on the television

I did my monthly required "act like a dudebro" act the weekend before last, last weekend was a total waste because I was still recovering from pretending to like people I can't stand, and only now can I relax and feel normal

Thank god for wine

You mean why hang out with people at all, or why them in particular? People are all pretty similar to one another in the end. Annoying to be around, and likely to stab you in the back at some point. But you never know when you might need favors, so you pretend to like people, and pretend to be nice, while keeping them at a safe distance. That's life. It beats death, probably.

Beer has become more sophisticated than your stereotype.

Also if you think no one has even been a drunk idiot on wine then you need to pull your head out of your ass.

Actually just pull your head out of your ass.

Dudebro, calm down. I never said wine is "more sophisticated", I am not the mean French waiter from the Steve Martin film that lives in your head. It is simply more enjoyable to drink, just like not having to yell and act "outgoing" is more enjoyable than having to yell and act "outgoing". Beer is just one of those things people drink in order to fit in. It's fine don't get me wrong, but obviously it's not the first choice unless you're trying to uphold an image.

As hinted at by your original comment about how "the newfangled craft beer overcoming stereotypes". But then you got all defensive about your age, and the remaining alternative was that you lived in some backwater that considered craft beer a cutting edge fad for edgy young hipsters who don't even go to church on Sunday.

Just re-read the thread, whether you jumped in midway or not, I'm not going to argue over what was said. The point is someone made a statement that suggested they had some antiquated hangups, so getting worked up over Steve Martin is a bit strange, considering the entire point of mentioning Steve Martin was to lampoon the comments about "the newfangled sophisticated beer"
