Do adjunct lagers (pic related would be Spain's equivalent to garbage like Budweiser or Carlsberg) give you a worse hangover than quality beers? I've found that I get much worse hangovers after getting drunk with shit lagers than when I drink nice stuff like the ales and stouts from my local irish pub, even when the amount of beer (and therefore alcohol) in the latter case is bigger. Is this known to happen or is it something that's affected by other factors?

Think about different 'types' of stouts first.
The 'meme' stouts are the more desertier stouts which I think is what most people on this board refer to generally when they talk about stouts. Between these and the others they have their own categories/spectrum i.e /chocolate/milk/dessert stout.

Dry/irish stout is traditional Guinness, which is there this comes from,
>>11114488
which is also sorta true because Guinness specifically uses nitro tap, which gives it a different texture, and contributes a large portion of what guinness 'is' to guinness drinkers. Canned guinness, freshness aside has some weird nitro ball gimmick which is supposed to replicate this but it doesn't really do it as well. For the older generation/non-craft beer drinkers I think this is the style that people most identify with the word stout.

Extra stout/ foreign extra is a different style to both; it is usually heavier than dry but generally focuses on a savoury profile instead of a desserty style. >>11114412
So this is perfectly 'okay' in bottle and is different from what you usually get on tap anyway for guinness. Guinness extra or coopers are both good, and generally more readily available.

If your option is bottled I'd recommend trying an extra stout, (biased, only because for me, this style is what I identify with most as stout).

Whatsup, porter bros?

I consider great lakes to be one of the better american breweries.. no meme beers, consistently good seasonals, and super bangin brewery only small batch releases at their bar.

East coast breweries absolutely shit in the west coast ones.. imo stone is the only good weet coast one

>> No.11129318

Generally it goes:
1. Great Lakes/Colorado (inland north)
2. New England
3. Northwest
4. California (mostly San Diego, and Norcal, LA is still way behind)
5. Mid Atlantic
6. Southern Midwest
7. The South

For some reason, no matter what region of the country you are in there is a north/south divide with San Diego/LA being the only significant exception
