Can I use salmon from a UK supermarket if I'm making sushi? I can't spend the money on buying it from a fishmonger.

If not, what are some good fillings for makizushi? I made some with japanese mayo and they were pretty good but my creativity stops there.

You can if you intend to get intestinal parasites.
You can freeze it first and then use it.
>But I fucking wouldn't.

You have a pretty good chance of being fine, and a pretty good chance of not being fine when you don't get sushi grade stuff intended for raw use.

no, it's not safe. sushi grade fish is very fresh, you're just buying cold fish
of course you can do whatever you want, but i think you mean "will i get sick?" and you probably will

don't the japs freeze their fish to kill all bacteria and parasites?

they don't need to, the radiation in the water kills everything naturally

Just microwave it for 5 minutes first.

You made makis with only mayo? What the fuck is wrong with you?

I regularly eat M&S salmon as sashimi, most of the time I don’t even bother freezing, just give it a kitchen towel wipe for the liquids. Never had any problems.

I’m a current immunologist maybe that’s why I don’t care.

Farm raised salmon is fed a lower quality diet than wild salmon. So they supplement the fish with astaxanthin to make it more pinkish.

'No'
You'll be fine OP, it doesn't have to be folding a million fucking times by some autistic jap.

The salmon I buy from the Co-op is from the Hebrides so not that far away.

Someone post the pic of the salmon with nematodes squirming on it already.

you won't get parasites you dumb fuck. all fish you get from a supermarket has already been frozen. get out of here with your larping bullshit. OP you might get sick but not from parasites - in all likelihood you'll be fine though, and you can just pan sear the fish really quickly on the outside to be sure, which is also kind of delicious.

>sushi grade fish

meme term. People that think "sushi grade fish" exist are the same people who think vaccines cause autism.

Just buy fish that has been deep frozen, it's the same fucking thing and it kills the bacteria.

Salmon from supermarkets are perfectly safe for sushi. First I cook them on the non-stick pan until well done and crispy on the outside, then I wrap them in nori. This the safest and tastiest way to make sushi.
