What are some things you do to increase the speed and efficiency with which you cook?

For example, keeping a bowl for trash by your chopping board, having a cloth on your side to wipe your hands on, or using your plate as a pot lid to warm it.

Once a week I'll cook a ton of ingredients, then throughout the week I can more or less just assemble meals from cooked stuff.
May not be the pinnacle of cuisine, but its certainly good and saves time on the days that I'm busy.

Use one of those Japanese "air pots" to have boiling water available at all times.
Keep commonly used oils & liquids near the stove in old wine or liquor bottles with pour tops (pic related)...just basic mise en place really.
Clean up in free moments while you're cooking (i.e. wash a plate while you're waiting for the pan to heat up, etc.)

no matter how much ramen you make it always has to sit for 5 min so buy a huge pack if ramen (bulk buy also saves money) and then cook it all in a big pot. then you can divide it up, put it in the fridge and eat it all week instantly

That's a great idea, half the time it seems like the liquids I only need a splash of have wide open tops, and the ones I want a lot of have annoying built in limiters.

I prep everything and have it all set out when cooking. I usually also have a sink of hot soapy water with a clean dish rag in it to wipe up messes and wash dishes as they are used. I clean as I cook

>So hard to simmer a package of ramen for 3 min, better cook it all at once and eat mush for a week.

This is why I got a crockpot, my gf and I love prepping on the weekends and all I need to do is pop my already cooked ramen in the break room's microwave. It's super convenient because my coworkers are going out for lunch but I get sooooo much more work done at my desk. Joke's on them, I save $17 a week. :^)

Does anyone here use their Google Home to read out instructions for cooking?
I haven't used the function yet

I didn't even know that was a thing, I just stick my phone under some plastic wrap if I'm following a long recipe.
