I guess I'm wrong for thinking that a utensil is exclusively a one-handed tool, but these items are what I typically think of when I hear "cooking utensil" — something that you can hold as an extension of your arm/hand. With the plastic catch-tray, the Bennie is its own self-contained system; it'd be like calling a crockpot a utensil.

I prefer the old-fashioned straight, rigid, boning knife. They look fairly similar but the blade is narrower and thicker.
