Well I've never heard of cats not going crazy for milk or cream. Mine drink until they're in an itis like milk drunk haze if I let them, but cheese typically has added salt plus dogs and cats in general LOVE fermented stinky food. Makes their superiy noses have a gasm. I used to have a dog that would swipe stinky washed rind cheeses if you were leaving them out to come to room temp in too low of a place. She also had a penchay for swiping dirty socks and hanging out near the pile of clothes outside the hamper

He's half baiting. We can tolerate vegetables only in adulthood but it will stunt the growth of children and kill babies. Meat only on the other hand leads to perfect health from time of weaning till death, ergo, humans should feel obligated to live as pure carnivores. But that's not the same as the dictionary definition "obligate carnivore", that generally means an animal that completely shuts down without meat.

Do you know how relatively recent in history processed / cultivated "human foods" came about? Way too recent to have had its own direct role in shaping the feeding instincts of cats. This is similar to when people ask why we "evolved to like" food that's bad for us. The answer is our instincts for what to eat were already in place long before any foods like the kind we have around today were first produced.

My cats love to munch on an ear of corn, it's super cute.

I have one cat that's absolutely psycho for food. She was a rescue and fended for herself who knows how long and in the four years I've had her has not unlearned her aggressive habits. I have to be careful not to leave food out, lest she attacks it.

She will rip apart packages of bread or other baked goods (donuts once, rip), she likes cheese, milk, ice cream, and other creamy things, she will chew up cucumbers, she once shredded a papaya, and sampled apples and peaches. Really into mashed potatoes. Also any snacky foods like chips, popcorn, goldfish crackers...list goes on. I think the tackiest thing she's ever done was drink used frying oil, which I had placed to finish cooling on top of the tallest kitchen cupboard, just a foot under the ceiling. She somehow made the jump to it from the windowsill. It's a good thing the oil wasn't hot. I usually hide frying oil inside the oven but I was using it for something that day.

Mine was like that, too. Even as a crippled by arthritis 15 year old, she would get up out of her bed and come to get a piece of banana if I didn't think to give her a piece while she was lying down. You mean feral cats, or are you talking about wild cats in the sense of tigers and leopards? Feral cats eat all sorts of crap that isn't good for them, they do their best to live off literal trash and get sick from it all the time. That's not a good reason to feed your own cat literal trash.

>what does optimal mean
You're a fucking idiot
>cant digest it properly
That doesnt mean it's bad for them. We cant digest a lot of things properly that we still ingest frequently.
>why not feed them what they should be eating?
I do, but sometimes they get curious and if there are no side effects from it, why not?
Obligate carnivores need meat to live. That doesnt mean they cant eat any form of vegetation whatsoever.

>> No.11090060

As in what does optimal mean in that context? It's not retarded to ask for clarification when some retard uses a vague buzzword, especially since it's not like cats can digest cellulose and it just takes more work, they simply can't digest it.
>That doesnt mean it's bad for them.
>there are no side effects
Putting non-food through their digestive system can upset their stomach and give them diarrhea or even bowel obstruction (phytobezoar). Just because you don't notice a problem after trying this pointless abuse doesn't mean it's harmless.
>That doesnt mean they cant eat any form of vegetation whatsoever.
They can't digest it, so what you're calling "eating" here is the same sort of "eating" as a human child swallowing tooth paste or a plastic toy. At best it'll pass through them and not cause them much pain, but you're certainly not doing them a favor by making this happen.
