i honestly don't have much stories from my 6 months of delivering for a local company.
think ubereats but im actually hired by them and have a schedule n shiet. 90% of the time i arrive early enough that im ahead of the quoted time by a good 20-30 minutes, people are friendly for the most part. the only mishaps i have are dealing with the wrong order being handed to me or missing items so now i just check everything or make them check.

I'm >>11079560 and I agree on the time wasted time portion of it. I'm paid a fixed $6 per delivery, so my priority is getting the orders done and delivered as fast as possible. If you're gonna hold me up with a massive order then leave me with a shitty tip it's a bad feeling. Sometimes I get no tip at all, even if I'm 30 minutes early way ahead of schedule, even if the food is piping hot when it arrives, people are stingy yet spending so much on eating out. If you can't afford to tip the delivery driver you shouldn't be ordering food.

One time me and me mate were out delivering currys to cunts, and this one cunt refused to pay.

The total was about £8 or something, and he offered £7. I told him that the price he agreed on when he ordered was £8, and that if he wanted the meal, he would need to pay £8.

This went back an forwards for a few minutes until I got fed up.
I asked him if he wanted the meal or not.
He said he did.
I asked him if he was going to pay the £8 or not, and he said he wouldn't.
I said "fuck you then" and then walked away from his door.
Me mate comes over to see what the hold up is.
I explain to him what's gone on.
The cunt is still standing at his door, so me mate asks him if he wants the curry, and goes through the whole process of the guy wanting to haggle over a quid.
My mate then says "you wan't this fucking curry? Here, have this fucking curry", and then proceeds to take the curry out of the bag and throws it off the cunts front window on his house so it splatters fucking everywhere.
There is a massive fucking curry stain covering this cunts front fucking window, and he's babbling some shite to us, so we just fuck off back to the curry shop and chip in £4 each to pay for it.

A couple days later, I got an automated email with a free pizza coupon apologizing for how long it took them to deliver.

If it's anything like waiters it's because they make far more under the tip system than they would making at or near minimum wage - Plus they don't report a lot of the tips so it's not taxed. It's the main reason why you see so few workers who rely on tips are for the big push for $15 an hour minimum wage: That cute blonde will make less money.

There seems to be a lot of confusion regarding tipping in this thread.

No one expects anyone to tip (at least not outside of burgerstan)

If you wish to tip, that’s great.

There also isn’t anyone demanding that we go the extra mile for the customer at any given time. We do, however, often go the extra mile to please the customer, and then it would be nice to see that our service is appreciated.

If a customer wishes not to tip, that’s OK. Just don’t expect the world’s absolute best treatment

(Just to clarify. We will always do our job. But if you know food industry, you know that sometimes there is a difference between good service, and great service)

Tl;dr no one expects anyone to tip, but it is a nice way of appreciating great service (given the treatment you received was pleasant)
