I couldn't tell which way that arm was going at first. But yes it's a bad idea, even if you aren't directly touching anything with it, it'll still get dirty from stuff like oil splattering if you're sauteeing or frying, and jewelry is dirty anyway from dead skin and body oil getting on it and you don't want that near food.

I hope she doesn't get mad, I hope she thinks this song is good not bad

No fingers no toes she doesn't own elbows, no phalanges no knobby knees to knock
She doesn't need knuckles or hands to go see punk rock bands, she's always in the stands, she's Nubs

No shoes no feet but we sure do think she's neat, she's Nubs, she's Nubs, she's Nubs

I asked her if she wanted a drink, I asked her if she liked Toronto, I asked her to go to the bar
But all she said was no thanks, no and no

It was time for her to leave, so I grabbed and shook her sleeve, and told her I'd see her at the next club
She got into a pack, some guy put her on his back, she said goodbye and kinda waved her stub

She's got beautiful eyes, and breasts regular size, but without calves and thighs she's Nubs
It's hard to give good head or get tied to a bed, when all you've got is a body and head, she's Nubs

>Is it a bad idea to cook with jewelry on?
It is a bad idea to work in a machine shop with jewelry. It can catch on equipment like saws and other devices and lock onto you to make a situation dangerous to cutting, breaking, amputation. So, for instance, a meat slicer is similar. Kitchens have big handles on pots, things bubbling away, pulling pizzas out of ovens...do you want your ring, bracelet or watch to catch on something, or hold hot oil or water underneath it if something did happen? Do you see people wearing ties near garbage disposers? Even children's lanyards are tearaway to prevent choking. How similar is a hanging ID or long necklace to that kind of danger? If you were suddenly slipped, then were jerked down or caught on something as you feel in a kitchen due to something around your neck, would you be hurt, burned or choked?

Jewelry can harbor germs, stay wet underneath, harbor fungus and strep next to the skin or be a vector to hold e.coli from bathroom visits.
Depending on your situation, you might find it a low, medium or high risk in the kitchen to the safety of others and yourself. Let's put it this way, in a hospital setting, employees really think about jewelry.

I used to work in a laboratory, and when I spilled liquid nitrogen on a countertop it dripped down my frontside, shirt then shorts, and right into my boot adhering a sock to my skin for several seconds before sublimating. Long enough to chill my skin into a 3rd degree burn. I wore loose longer pants from that day forward.

>What's up with all these fat featureless wrists with very expensive watches? I remember seeing these threads all the time on other boards, usually posted with some "arrogant rich asshole" copypasta.
I'm suspecting you just have a problem with rich people and/or fat people. If you want a nice watch yourself and no one loves you enough to gift you a watch, then buy yourself one. Watches are typically milestone kinds of gifts: graduation, anniversary, first job's paycheck. There's very little difference to buying gold/stocks/CDs and parking your money in the bank, or enjoying a watch that appreciates and parking some of your money on your wrist. Once you have two dimes to rub together, where you put your money is preference. If your friends and family all have run of the mill jobs/careers, they should all easily afford a watch. If they don't ever save money or maintain a bank balance beyond 2 months salary, then something is wrong with your lifestyle that you can't afford to take $450-1500 from savings to your arm, big deal.

>> No.11080665

>>11080648
I don't have a problem with either, it's just odd that the pictures are nearly always both fat and an expensive watch. Where are the pictures of thin people with expensive watches? Fat people with cheap watches? Etc?

I have no problem with people buying watches of whatever price.

I do have a problem with fat people, mainly because my ass ends up paying for their invevitible health problems. And also because it is honestly disgusting to gaze upon.

I was just pointing out that there's an odd amount of images of plump hands wearing expensive looking watches. They're all crudely shot with some cheap camera at the same angle and all feature a closed fist. Nowhere did I state I had any issues with fat people nor watches, nor did I (think I) imply any.
But it's good to know you're one of them.

in a word, yes.

in a few more words, it depends on what you are doing, is the food dry or wet, what are you working with, is there a chance of oil splattering or splashing you.
I typically take my rings off when I am washing dishes, dealing with chicken or otherwise directly handling food stuffs
I never wear a watch when cooking unless I am doing something like grilling or boiling noodles where I want to time something without being arsed to grab a timer.

tl:dr
For simple things it doesn't matter much, but it's a good idea to remove rings, watches, hair ties and dangling jewelry from your fingers, wrists and neck. earrings are generally harmless
