Am I ever coming back to the restaurant?

If yes, then based on their service. If it's shitty, rude service, nothing. If it's decent service at least 20%. I've tipped up to 50% because it wasn't a lot of money to me and the people waiting on me were excellent. People remember a generous tipper and will give you preferential treatment. I've gotten lots of "freebies" and better accommodations through this.

If no, probably nothing unless they're exceptional, because I like having money and don't really give a fuck.

Nope. Go back to r3ddit you dumb communist faggot. People sign up to be wait staff because, unless you're severely incompetent, you make $20/hour+
Scenario 1A:
>waiter reports his tips every night as he's supposed to
>end of week comes
>his tips made him more than the federal minimum wage rate
>he receives a paycheck for zero because he has already made the wage he signed up for
Scenario 1B
>waiter reports his tips every night as he's supposed to
>end of week comes
>his tips made him less than the federal minimum wage rate
>the owner of the restaurant cuts a check to bring his weekly earnings up to minimum wage

Depends on if the service was legitimately good. Was my drink empty? Did the server come to see if everything was good? Was I seated in the middle of the fucking dining room when there were millions of other tables not putting me in the center of attention? These are all factors in my tip. Never more that 20%, and rarely below 5%. Also, if I use a coupon or get a discount, and I'm gunna tip, I tip BEFORE the discount. I also never tip on tax.

I have worked in the service industry for a year while in school before switching to a different job, and no, he's right.

Tips are cool, but the entitlement most wait staff has is their own doing. It's a minimum wage job that requires minimum wage skill. You should always be thankful somebody decided to toss you a little extra; hell, most fast casual chains demonstrate that the majority of restaurants could probably get away with not having waitstaff at all.

so are white people in diversifying neighborhoods. tipping in the restaurant industry is a racket where nobody knows if the plate carrier is making a "decent" wage or not so the 20% or more for standard service meme come into effect to create the reality we live in where servers can make more than the fucking cooks because they on occasion get a difficult table and the business usually take the cock sucking route because muh hospitality. I'm american in Germoney. Even though tipping isn't standard, I tip like 13-15% at places I regular because they start hooking me up every time I show up after that. One place I always go to gives me like double the food and a free shot at the end. Feels goodman.

Sounds like a personal problem and flys in the face of the entire purpose of minimum wage. The wage the federal gubmint mandates all employees must be paid regardless of occupation.
