Well in general I don't marinate steak. Get yourself something likena rineye and cook it in a very hot pan with olive oil, butter, garlic and rosemary. Flip once and baste until your desired doneness. Younmay want to flip multiple times for a more well done steak. Season with whatever you want but if you want to keep it simple salt and pepper is fine.

pat dry, then rub both sides with salt 1/2 an hour before you cook, then pat dry again.that will give it a better crust
then rub it with oil and put it into a very hot pan/ grill
get it nicely crusted on both sides, then turn heat to low, (if using a pan) add butter (and garlic and thyme if you want) and baste it, turning, until desired doneness. Or finish it in the oven if it's really thick.

rest it on a warm plate

Memesters and shitposters aside.
Cook it under the broiler on a pan that can take that temp.
3-6 minutes per side depending on thickness, subtract a minute or two for 2nd side.
No marinade,
>Reading your mind, you got a round steak didn't you.

I like to put it in a bowl and pour whisky over it, like an hour before I cook it. Turn it a few times. I use the whisky in the bowl to add to sweet baby rays and Stubbs blended together for a fast, unique dipping sause brought to a boil.

I'm not the guy that said no, but no. Olive has a much lower temperature before it degrades. A very hot pan will destroy the oil. It'll keep it from sticking, but the flavor and nutritional value will take a dump.
