I can't afford fresh herbs so just add some dried mix herbs for flavour and scent. I like a big pinch.

Give it a good mix in, season for salt and pepper, then let it simmer on your lowest heat for about 20 minutes

Boil your pasta about ten minutes though the simmer. I'm using penne.

Add a big knob of cold butter to your sauce when the pasta is about half way cooked. Give it a nice stir in and enjoy the creamy velvet goodness.

Drain and add your pasta. Take it off the heat and give it a nice mic until the sauce covers the pasta. Then plate it up with another grating of cheese.

My gal got me one of those hydroponic herb gardens with seed pods and it's amazing. It wasn't that expensive, replacement seeds are cheap, and you can literally start harvesting fresh herbs in the space of ~2-3 weeks.
