My former boss makes a mean cucumber sour. The normal one can be pretty boring, but a bit of black pepper does wonders to the drink if it's made well altogether.

I also really like a cocktail that is bourbon, ginger liqueur, and orange bitters in a old fashioned glass with a nice big ice ball or block. Generally 2oz bourbon 1 oz ginger liquer and just a few dashes orange bitters. Has a nice sweet/spicy/citrus thing going for it.

I've been stocking my micro-bar up over the past couple months and trying a lot of different cocktails.

Before I got a lot of different spirits and things like bitters, my old favorite was the Gimlet. Simple and good as long as you use fresh lime juice (Bottled is disgusting).

Now that I've got more choices, I'm still trying new things constantly but so far I'm really liking the Manhattan, with bourbon over rye.

Waiting until I can get to a thrift store and pick up some cocktail glasses before I try something like a martini, even though I have everything on hand, doesn't feel right drinking a martini out of a double old fashioned glass.

>I've also fucked around with some bullshit combos when I felt lazy and like experimenting and I've actually found that I enjoy this one combo I threw together
>1oz of white rum
>1oz of gin
>1oz of Midori melon liqueur
>barspoon of mint syrup
>Stir for a while because that mint syrup doesn't like to mix in too well

I tried it a couple times, think it needed probably a half oz more rum and half or full oz more midori because the gin was pretty forward but eh.

Typically 2-4 ounces in a long island iced tea, there's plenty of cocktails that have 4 ounces of liquor in them, you just get a tall glass full of ice and some soda in the long island, same with the adios motherfucker.

Local hipster bar I play pool at started serving liquor a couple months back, nobody behind the bar knows how to make a proper cocktail and it takes them a solid minute to make something like a gin and tonic, so ask for anything not on the menu which is about 8 drinks, and good luck. I know the owner, and I'm tempted to ask if they'd hire me just to make the cocktails, because it frustrates me how poorly they treat their liquor.
