I´m southamerican and I'm about to travel to New York City.
I wanna make a list of things to eat while.
What's your favorite American food?
I'm interested in both traditional and fast food.

NYC is not very good for "American food". You can do some common tourist shit like hot dogs, pizza, and Kat'z deli. Otherwise the NYC food scene is either fine dining or foreign food.

If you want traditional American food your best bet is to visit the south. Go to South Carolina and visit Husk or McCrady's for traditional, and very well done "American" food.

If you want to do the fast food thing you can get that anywhere.

American food is globally ubiquitous.

You've already had the best offerings it in your own country.

I would love to visit the south, but unfortunately, I can't.
I also would like to try the foreign food, since where I live there is not much immigration.

thank you for the non-answer

>I´m southamerican and I'm about to travel to New York City.
Think about doing what people are supposed to do in New York, not just american experiences.
>I wanna make a list of things to eat while.
Iconic New York eateries must-do's include:
Deli food, like pastrami, half sour pickles, glorious bread and bagels, crispy potato pancakes, amazing cheesecake. Do a top 10 deli, and find one near your location.
Steakhouses. Some of the best in the world. Try finding one with a view, with a reputation, and "aged" meat. If you're from argentina, you can skip the US steakhouse experiences, but consider it your best burgers instead.
Italian food and bakeries. This is a good deal of the early ancestry in New York and there are amazing things to eat, ex cannoli.
Chinese food (only do this if you don't have access at home). Dim sum is one luxury that requires a busy restaurant to keep bringing out items from the steamers of variety.
New York has fantastic ethnic food, from K-Town chicken wings, to arepas, to polish peirogis, vietnamese bahn mi, german food, it's alllll there.
>What's your favorite American food?
American BBQ is pretty unique, as are the southern sides that go with it. NYC is not the best place to get it, but it exists. American breakfast might excite you.
>I'm interested in both traditional and fast food.
Manhattan fast food? Gray's papaya dog is famous. By the slice pizza varies in quality. Keep in mind the per capita income and the fact most fast food you see is geared towards tourists not locals who dine better and care about their bodies (rich people like fitness).
There are great bistros and american food everywhere, people who eschew NY dining as one thing or another just are probably on a budget and with people who controlled their choices. Try popping into a train station to see the food court choices and just graze your way through it. If you get to go to the outer boroughs, even better choices, especially for ethnic food.

Well, you'd be wrong. What triggered your asinine reaction? NYC is one of the best foodie destinations in the world, even for Southern food. If you traveled more, you'd understand how to find the good stuff when you travel.

OP, you didn't say where you are coming from? When I travel I try to find the things I can't get more easily at home. The US has regions where asian food is sadly lacking or highly good, and other regions where European food specialties are better, or bakeries are really well done, just for instance. Seek out the things really lacking at home. So, where from?

I wouldn't even bother with fast food. It is almost as expensive as a sit down meal in a small restaurant unless you hit the value menus which all suck unless you are drunk and desperate.

There's a lot of pizza in NYC, but don't order pepperoni pizza no matter how much you're tempted. It's an instant turnoff when chicks see a guy eating a children's food in public.

>> No.11008786

Don't bother. Just enjoy the food you grew up on, you'll be fine.

Just as normal Americans would no doubt be repulsed by whatever chupacabra / grubworm / monkey brain cuisine that you enjoyed as a youth in your village, you won't appreciate the context of regional American cuisine. You'll tentatively taste a fork of sausage gravy and biscuits and be all "ah, that's, uh, interesting" and beg off the pigs feet. Just as you should. Just like any reasonable person from the civilized world would pass on your local fried rodent on a stick.

Just stay in your lane and you'll be fine.

Haha, love her quirky personality, so adorkable. Gotta check the place out on my next trip to NY.
