Sausage pizza from Lou's is fantastic, because the thin flat layer of pressed out lou's recipe fennel-y italian sausage on top under the tomatoes cooks in the sauce, and it makes juices that run down into the layer of cheese. I would imagine any other pizza from chicago is just like a giant mozzarella stick dipped in marinara, just a different beast. Sausage is where it is at!

So to sum up, sausage deep dish #1, yes.

That said, it's more of a melted cheese pie experience, and because it has a buttery brioche crust, it's probably time to stop comparing it to other kinds of pizza. A roasty charred thin and crispy brick oven crust is a different thing and quite delicious, especially with well done toppings, or even gourmet toppings, like bits of goat cheese and wild mushrooms or truffles. New Haven pizza is amazing, whether from Sals or Bar, with potatoes or with anchovies. A detroit deep dish with crispy lacey burned cheese all around the edges is amazing too. Nontraditional pizzas with meme toppings can be done well from time to time. I lived in DC near a place that my spouse and I got on some drunk Friday night parties delivered, and enjoyed a gyro pizza or taco pizza that was done with perfect balance and well done toppings as much as Italian style. The jalapenos were sliced thin and as crispy as well done pepperoni. Man it was hot and went down nicely with icy craft beer. The debate of types should end. There is good pizza and then there is bad pizza with too much sauce, too salty, not enough cheese, bland low quality, not enough good cheese, floppy undercooked toppings, canned toppings, raw underdone crust, and then there are places that understand the balance, and you have to be careful not to overdo your toppings when you order there, as well. Support the good guys and pick up your food yourself, and ignore the bad chains.

Pic is New Haven restaurant Bar, serving a local favorite of (WTF?) potato pizza.

It's probably not a bad idea if you're piss drunk. If I lived in New Haven, I wouldn't want to be sober either.

you're one of those fags whos flown into o'hare once and/or just seen shootings on the news and declared Chicago dogshit. I live on the east coast now but I lived there for 7 years and its a wonderful city.

Most locals do not regularly eat deep dish. They don't even care about the stupid pizza debate that seems to melt everyone's brains. Deep dish is deep dish and regular pizza is regular pizza (square cut) in Chicago. I know OP was just slinging bait because this thread is posted practically every other day.

In America? NY beats Chicago for sure.
Deep dish is nice, but it's not the same as an "actual" pizza.

Best za on the planet? Obviously Italy, more specifically Puglia.
Anyone who tries to say that NY or Chicago pizza is the "best in the world" either forgets Italy exists or have never actually had pizza there.

They also make an actual sausage pizza, as in the "crust" is made of sausage. I can't eat gluten so this is excellent.

Potato on pizza is great. I regularly get raclette pizza with extra reblochon and potatoes and it tastes great.
