So, I'm guessing this is the place to ask these 2 questions, please delete if I'm in the wrong place but.
1. Is Trader Joe's cheaper than Whole Foods all together or for specific things?
2. Fruit seems to be high at both stores, is convenience store/7-11 fruit a cheaper choice?
I've never bought groceries before

1. Depends on where you live.
2. Convenience stores will always be more expensive than a normal store.

Just go to Harris Teeter then.

Arlington, I think Crystal City has a teeter.

Oh okay. I live on the eastern shore. We've got teeters but not whole foods. No one cares about us so we don't get the amenities of the west. Still a nice place to live though. I've been told our accent is stupid though. Apparently we sound like canadians.

Whole Foods is going to be expensive for produce. Trader Joe's is cheaper than Whole Foods, but they're only good for snacks, frozen items, and meat; Trader Joe's has the produce section of a shitty corner store bodega. Convenience stores are always going going to have everything marked up, because you're paying for the convenience of them always being open and being more plentiful than grocery stores.

If you're worried about the cost of produce, the cheapest place to buy it is ethnic supermarkets, usually the Latino or Asian ones. I buy produce at the Chinese market across the street from my apartment because it's half the price of the supermarket. To give you an example, oyster mushrooms are like $10/lb at Ralph's (the CA version of Kroger), and they're $5.99/lb at the Chinese market. Or a head of lettuce is $2 at Ralph's, and only 80 cents at the Chinese market. Or a whole small bag of shallots at the Chinese market costs the same as one shallot at Ralph's, etc.
