>Acrylamide is considered a potential occupational carcinogen by U.S. government agencies and classified as a Group 2A carcinogen by the IARC.[15] The Occupational Safety and Health Administration and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health have set dermal occupational exposure limits at 0.03 mg/m3 over an eight-hour workday.[4] In animal models, exposure to acrylamide causes tumors in the adrenal glands, thyroid, lungs, and testes.[1] Acrylamide is easily absorbed by the skin and distributed throughout the organism; the highest levels of acrylamide post-exposure are found in the blood, non-exposed skin, kidneys, liver, testes, and spleen. Acrylamide can be metabolically-activated by cytochrome P450 to a genotoxic metabolite, glycidamide, which is considered to be a critical mode of action to the carcinogenesis of acrylamide. On the other hand, acrylamide and glycidamide can be detoxified via conjugation with glutathione to form acrylamide- and isomeric glycidamide-glutathione conjugates,[16] subsequently metabolized to mercapturic acids and excreted in urine. Acrylamide has also been found to have neurotoxic effects in humans who have been exposed. Animal studies show neurotoxic effects as well as mutations in sperm.[15]

Hmm, CA appears tuh be one o' dem athiest socialist gubmints dat cares about citizens over corporate interests! Ah says, we'se take 'em out, ok?

Anything that's been baked, roasted, toasted, or fried has acrylamide in it, so you've been eating it for years and there's no real way to reasonably avoid it unless you want to eat all raw foods, even if some study has shown it's maybe possibly linked to cancer in some way.

>> No.10970374

>>10970356
Acrylamide isn't just "maybe possibly" linked to cancer, see >>10970351

>> No.10970430

>>10970236
Yes, it's real. It's a strongly suspected carcinogen in humans: https://www.cdc.gov/niosh/docs/2011-139/pdfs/2011-139.pdf#page=17

>>10970374
Technically it's a likely human carcinogen because of it's confirmed carcinogenic effects in animals, but not humans.

>occupational carcinogen
>occupational
That means being exposed to high amounts of it during some kind of job. Not eating small amounts of it formed during normal cooking. Being exposed to high amounts of almost anything like that eventually causes problems, even bakers end up with health problems sometimes because of all the flour they've been around. Doesn't mean flour causes cancer.

Just think of what sort of nanny state the average californian needs to walk them through life and #adulting.
