Stopped by Lambert’s in a flyover vacation and holy shit coastfags might be right. That whole restaurant is plastered with license plates and accolades from all over about how it’s the best restaurant in Missouri and best road trip stop etc. I got my plate and it was this massive, soggy frozen beef burger with American cheese product and untoasted buns, with some thick cut raw onions and unseasoned green beans. It was the most offensively flavorless food I have ever tried.

For asthetics.

The space in front of the diner needs to be large enough to hold a full-size dinner plate, but the volume of that soup course is too small to fill a bowl of that size, so a smaller bowl is used. But it would look wierd if you had a big open space with a small bowl in it. So the solution is to use a bowl with a very large rim, or to stack a succession of plates together to fill the space.

But his argument about German beer hall:

Peter Lugar's is overrated bullshit, I used to work right next to it and there's nothing elite about it except the high prices for a bunch of nothing.

It's not the money so much as the pretence of Lugar's and the bar looking loud atmosphere that's not appealing. For the same money or a little more there are better steak houses near by that's aren't loud and pretentous.

Of course it’s not elite, it’s a German beer hall.

But now it’s pretentious (a German beer hall).

It’s bar is noisy (imagine that, a noisy German beer hall).

My suggestion for him to open his own place clearly was a joke as is his criticism.
