Yes, I know they are saw blades but the reason why I say they are more like grinding wheels is because they literally are. They have abrasive grit on them rather than teeth. They share the grinder's disadvantage of having a negative rake angle on each grain. That's in stark contrast to most saw's teeth, which have a positive rake angle. The majority of saws have teeth; the abrasive type saw blades are used for speciality applications only.

As for saw blades, I know 'em pretty well. I own a machine shop and own several saws of various types. The coolest one is an old DoAll Zephyr which is pretty neat because it will run so fast that it can cut all sorts of exotic stuff simply by the heat generated from friction. The blades for that don't even have teeth on them at all.
