Why do vegans and non-vegans have to fight about what food they eat? Just eat whatever you want to and let other people eat what they want to. Eating meat is fine, and not eating meat is also fine, it's not like you're eating live poisonous frogs or tide pods.

They're the ones yelling at me, bruv. I don't care if they don't want to eat meat. Why do they care that I do?

Someone always knows one annoying vegan in high school or college. People who are not completely sheltered also know other vegans who are not annoying, but if you're a shut-in who has no friends, it's easy to only hear about the one who can't shut up about veganism, because you don't talk to anyone.

Combine the fact that this is 4chan where there are a lot of shut-ins with no friends, and the fact that people come here specifically to argue with strangers, and we have a lot of fighting about the scary v word.

9 times out of 10 nobody even really seems to care, people will say "vegan" and it means about the same thing as "boomer". I'm usually called a vegan whenever it comes out that I don't eat fast food garbage all the time.

Because veganism is a religion. It is the adherence to a code that is driven by emotions to the exclusion of fact. Whether or not parts of it contradict or make no sense doesn't matter to the practitioner. It often has arbitrary rituals and seeks to convert non-believers. It's a religion.

do you know vegans have eaten animal products before? then they realized what that do to animals. maybe they even denied it at first like the most meat eaters do it now. getting vegan is a process, most people are vegetarian for years. maybe they even switched back to eating meat for a time. this is why they try to "help" the meat eaters. ( and yeah i know many "no-day-without-my-steak-people" who are vegetarian now) also vegans know its better for the whole environment/world to not eat animalproducts, thats why they maybe get angry sometimes.
some meat eaters are scared to realize where the meat comes from, in todays time most people in first world never see animals getting slaughtered, or they just romanticize the life of livestock.(like:all cows live on a meadow and they like to get milked or else they have pain) so the people dont want to hear from vegans how it really is. yes there are people who hunt and kill their own animals, but that is a small number in total.(and i think hunting is not the main problem, its factory farming)

but eating meat is bad for environment, thats why its acceptable to say its worse than living vegan. its affecting us all.
imagine: you need to sit next to a smoker with your children and are not able to go away, you tell him its bad not only for him and it would be great when he could stop. but he keeps smoking, starts laughing about you for not smoking, tells you he can do whatever he want and will now smoke even more because he can have your cigarettes you dont want.

There are a lot of problems with modern animal farming that shouldn't be ignored even by people who eat meat though. I eat meat occasionally but I still want lab-grown meat to become available in stores.

>> No.10846601

>>10846569
Agreed about the problems with factory farming, but you don't need to go to lab meat to avoid that. Small scale old-school farming has existed for milennia and already provides a solution to the problems with CAFE meat.

>>lab meat
Sounds great at first glance, but I have two major concerns:
1) we still have no idea what the exact costs (both dollar and otherwise) might be. Who knows what kind of toxic byproducts to dispose of, disease/contamination risks, energy consumption, or other environmental issues might crop up?
2)I fully expect the product to be even worse tasting than CAFE meat. It's not that modern technology can't make it good, rather it's that people won't choose to bother. GMOs and industrialized agriculture are no different: we could have focused on making crops taste better, but instead we throw taste by the wayside and focus on cheaper. I'm done with that shit, I want the pendulum to swing the other way. Fuck cheaper, I want *better*.

Vegans typically start the argument by claiming superiority and masquerading their personal and philosophical choices as logic

>> No.10847341

>>10847323
I'm sure that will get sorted out, after all customers will demand something that could pass for a steak. And if we can grow organs we can certainly grow, say, a "tenderloin muscle". But like I said above I seriously doubt that much effort will be spent on making the product taste good. Like other applications of modern tech towards food the goal will be to make it as cheap as possible with little if any regard to taste or nutrition. That's what we've already seen with, say, GMO crops.

I think there will be a considerable amount of money to be made if lab-grown steaks start becoming cheaper to produce at the same quality of real steaks. I don't think that will be a focus right away, making a cheap alternative to already cheap, low quality ground beef will be easier and more profitable right now, but at some point I expect whole cuts of high quality meat to be lab-grown.

>> No.10847389

>>10847375
>but at some point I expect whole cuts of high quality meat to be lab-grown.

Why? We've had industrial agriculture for decades now, but it's never been used to create a high quality tomato, for example. It's always been used for cheaper and higher-yield at the cost of flavor, every single time. Sure they'll have to achieve some minimum standard, but if past data is anything to go on it's going to be yet another step down, just like what has already happened with CAFE meats. Dry Aged beef, for example, used to be the default standard. Now it's an expensive luxury.

>Why do non-sexists and sexists have to fight about women are allowed to do? Just let them do what you feel they should be able to do. Abusing women is fine, and not abusing women is fine.

OP your logic is flawed because you can say the same thing about any movement where people that subscribe to a belief that something is wrong should just shut up and accept that wrongdoing, which doesn't make sense.
