Why do people eat this when spinach, romaine, cabbage, arugula, kale if you're into that whole California scene, etc. are as readily available, boast more flavour, more nutrients?

Texture and coolness. Flavor is not exactly an asset when essentially all lettuces are kinda bitter.

Iceberg just has an amazing texture, man. None of these vegetables boast much nutrition, barring cabbage.

But cabbage has LOADS of flavor and isn't exactly what i'd all super versatile.
