Holy shit why did I not try this sooner? It makes even cheap buns and shitty hot dogs 10/10 with barely any more work required

Im about to blow your mind OP.
You can add shit to ramen.
I mean shit like onion, peppers, cabbage, hell some crazy fucks even add egg.
In fact there are lots of cheap foods you can make better with a little thing called effort.

Wow looks very time consuming and tedious for the smallest amount of benefit. It's a fucking hot dog, there's no need to be so pretentious.

Looks pretty tedious for a shitty style sausage like a hotdog. I mean scoring the skin and studding with cloves on a holiday baked ham is one thing because it's an event but a hotdog? Put a few slashes in the top and you achieve the same effect w/o appearing autistic.

What are some good hotdog toppings?

I made my own the other night and the buns did get toasted in the oven with garlic butter, then I put bacon, grilled onions, cheese, tomato relish and this spicy bbq onion relish I found on em and they were pretty good. Also tried one with mango chutney, but was a bit sweet for my tastes.

But as I understand it Americans put all types of shit in their hotdogs, Ausfag here, and I got some in the freezer still so I will probably have more at some point next week.
Any suggestions?

You forgot the utterly god-tier Icelandic hot dog with salad cream on top of the frank, and brown sauce with fried onion bits under it. I could eat a dozen of those in a sitting without even batting an eyelash.

I always add last nights leftover meat, carrot, celery, pepper and sometimes ginger. Next level ramen you ask?
Ditch the flavor packet
Make chicken with taco seasoning
Add same spice mixture to boiling water with noodles
I have chicken broth concentrate and add a bit of that
Cut up some flour tortillas into strips and add it like dumplings
Boom, mexican soup. And if you can't tell I'm a college student living on ramen

I always pan fry a hot dog in a little oil. It's quite simple to slice down the center to butterfly and splay it out to brown on both sides. Cross hatching seems tedious same effect. I don't butter toast it, but I expect restaurants to 100% of the time do that. I will open it up and lay it on the grill to toast, if outside BBQing, but most often, I simply shove it and opened up bun right into the toaster, flipping it halfway to get the second half that didn't fit in the first cycle.

I love grilling some thinly sliced onions at the same time as I panfry the hot dog, or adding some drained sauerkraut to the pan to pick up the browned pan juices and fond. But, if I'm not doing a traditional mustard and kraut dog, I'm looking at my condiments from the fridge like garlic mayo + french's onion + roasted red pepper relish. I love Howard's picalilli. I love a colombian hot dog with potato sticks on top.

If I'm in a BBQ mood, that dog might get a brush of sweet baby rays BBQ sauce to glaze at the end, garlic toasted bun, shredded cheddar, and lots of raw onion.

Natural casings > any other hotdog. That being said, scoring or cutting the casing allows for all of the moisture and oils to leave the dog. Less work for a better tasting hotdog...just slightly more expensive.

Line up all the hot dogs and make the slices across all of them at the same time. Remember to take your medication.
