That's one of the big differences between coasties and knowledgeable, aware flyovers, we grow our own food.

>>10719978
Know how much produce you can grow on 1/3 of an acre? Enough to more than halve your produce bill. You know what else will happen? You'll occasionally be outside moving your limbs tending it you fatfuck. Or are you one of those suburban clucks who still subscribe to the 1950's chemical company propaganda stating you gotta have a pretty yard of worthless grass that requires a shitload of chemicals?

Here's my garlic I'm fixing to harvest in a week or 2. It's enough to keep us for most of the year.

You actually can't grow enough calories to sustain yourself.
Agricultural independence is a meme. You need either a shitload of nut trees or livestock.

False. Suplemented with hunting, fishing and some nut and berry foraging you most certainly can and on only a few acres and that would include using clover and vetch cover crops to replenish the soil organically.

Try to do that in your backyard.
Chickens, goats or cows are a much more reliable source of calories.

The only hunting I do on my farm is to kill problem animals that eat my crops or animals. I don't even eat them, but I could. I just don't like groundhog all that well. Before I became a full time farmer, I did tons of hunting, fishing, and foraging. Now, I raise my own berries, chickens, veggies, and fish. I've considered goats or sheep, but I'm still on the fence with that decision.

Guy i work with has a small family farm. He got some goats a few years ago and fell in love with them like pets. He just keeps them and breeds them now. He sells the offspring but doesn't slaughter any of his goats.

Rule #1 as a farmer. Never ever name anything. Also, never have livestock in smaller amounts. Like always have 2 dozen or more.

The purpose of farming your own food is to get the food, not the farming. Are you retarded?
