10695046 No.10695046 [Reply] [Original]

Why the fuck is Indian food so god damned expensive? I've tried it in three different cities and it is always overpriced. A bunch of poorfag Indians who don't even wash their hands before they cook want to charge more than any other ethnic restaurant. I could get a plate of sashimi for the same price as a dish of curry.
I can cook it just fine myself, problem is I don't want my entire apartment to smell like it for a week.

It can't be more expensive than lime leaves, tea leaves, or any other spice. Why curry leaves? What makes them so faggoty when half my produce comes from Chile or Mexico just fine?

I'd like to idealize this and assume that it's because you're a cunt and they've seen you coming so charge you more.

He's fucking with you anon. Curry leaves arent necessary to make Curry and are only commonplace in specific places even in India. We're talking about food where most of the dishes were peasant/poor foods. They just overcharge you because it's exotic for a lot of people and most wouldn't have a clue where to start if they wanted to make it at home.

OP has returned. 2 takeout entrees and a dessert for $40. It was delicious though. I have enough for 4 meals easily. Ridiculous when $20 will get you a meal at a nice sit down restaurant.

They probably just grow wild in India. I live in a 7B growing zone in the US and they sell curry plants at the local nursery. Fwiw, I've collected the seeds the last few years and wander through the neighborhood throwing them everywhere since in short order, climate change will have turned us into india.

Flyovers and boomers think there's some kind of magic potion that loos have to make curry. I made my mom curry once and she dropped her panties in a manner of speaking. Make it at home, who cares if it smells? It smells good

The trick is to make it yourself.
I have a crockpot recipe I've worked out to make a fuck ton of butter chicken really easy.
Then I just eat it either with rice or those premade naan breads that you just heat up in the oven.
You can work out a way to make pretty much any curry in a slowcooker and have it taste restaurant quality.

It might be that you're going to places that try to be more upscale and the higher prices reflect that, even if there's nothing particularly expensive in the dishes. Other restaurants do the same thing. An Italian restaurant I've been to charged $13 for spaghetti and meat sauce, and that was the cheapest thing on the menu. Most dishes were closer to $20.

Indians are Jews 2.0.
I worked retail next to a credit card call center once, I had a guy actually return something because it was one cent more then he thought it would be. I wish I was joking. They always looked over every single thing they bought for any imperfection so they could ask for a discount.
