Just had pic related and I wasn't very impressed. They were decent, but I don't really see them being worth $2. Also /deenz/ thread.

I had a can of sardines yesterday and was unexcited. I don't know what's happened. They used to be my favorite treat. I think my /deenz/ consumption has peaked.

Don't suggest cooking with them. That just ruins them. Plain /deenz/ canned in water, please, and nothing else.

Slurping the pulpy water at the end is my favorite part. Anyone else do this?

Move on to TJ smoked trout. God. Damn. They're like a blowjob, but food.

Olive oil is ok, but it does overpower the sardine flavor a bit and it usually isn't good quality olive oil. I prefer to savor the sardine alone.

Also, if you're storing them in your survivalist rations, olive oil is a poor choice because the oil will go rancid before the sardines expire. You want your long term storage sardines in water or a different type of oil. Not tomato sauce, either, as the acid can affect the can.

ok thanks ill have to buy some in water next time. nah i eat them pretty much the same day so no worries of that happening lol

Water is good, but don't limit yo self. Lots of varieties. Bumble Bee (and prolly others) makes a hot sauce tin. Very good. King Oscar makes a nice olive oil, and there are many other varieties. But fuck the /deenz/ in mustard. That's just nasty.

That's because you got "med style." WTF is Med style? That's for fags, just get these. They're not supposed to blow your head off, they're very good by themselves or on some nice crusty garlic bread.

I've been considering adding some deenz to my camping rations. Any suggestions? I figure the ones packed on oil would make an ungodly mess.

>> No.10669471

>>10669432
That's crap. It's best to get the base sardines either in oil or water then if you want to add stuff do it yourself. For instance adding mustard or hot sauce or whatever it's best to do that yourself given a proper base.

>>10669461
It's not a mess if you open it properly, then the oil doesn't fly all over the place. Been there done that.

Car camping or backpacking? If BPing, 86 the deenz. Too much of a hassle. Car camping? Bring 15 tins.

I was talking about the pre-packed deenz in mustard. They're disgusting. Add whatever you like to your deenz. Don't buy the pre-packed deenz in mustard.

Car camping means you have a set spot. You can do whatever and use your car as a base. This is opposed to BPing, where you put a week's worth of shit in you backpack and go for a multi-day hike.

You can minimize the stench by tossing them in the fire to burn out all the biological residue, but keeping empty tins still becomes a nuisance.

There was this plant in upper Manhattan, NYC and I think they used to burn animals there, there was this dark smoke that used to come up from a smoke stack a couple miles from where I lived but if the wind was going south I'd smell it and it was nasty. We put some laws into place to prevent that now but that was just nasty, dead unwanted animals and stuff.

A lot of cats probably. You get these weird old ladies in one bedroom rent controlled places with 3000 cats and the bitch dies and who the fuck is supposed to take care of the cats? Well the incinerator takes care of them.

One thing to remember is that you'll have to truck all of those smelly empty cans back down the mountain, bring a ziplock bag or something to seal that shit away
