my gf made a huge pot of pasta without salting the water and it was noticeably bland. Unsalted pasta water makes pasta that is almost tasteless.

Anon I usually salt the water and I've been taught that, potatoes can absorb some amount of salt so salting the water does change the taste of potato, it makes it better cause the salt is absorbed deep inside which makes it better than sprinkling the salt.

Well you'll have to use approx 4 tablespoons of salt for a litre but I usually use 6 :3

In our local cuisine if the food is over-salted, we use potatoes to neutralise it, it does work cause it absorbs salt. Anyway man good luck I hope this helps you.

Pasta is very thin and absorbs the salt water. Potatoes are super thick and are usually cooked with the peel on. So unless you have smaller potatoes salt in the water really doesn't add anything. When I do cut my potatoes in slices and then cook them so it cooks faster I do salt it though

Even Knorr's list starts with salt. Cubes are shit. Wet pastes are better. Homemade is the only good way.
