What exactly is "birthday cake flavor" supposed to be?

I see more and more products advertised as "birthday cake". Oreos, ice cream, even gum.

Is it just adding sprinkles to something? Is it just a marketing ploy?

sugar, thats it just powdered sugar

a lot of industries lie to you and tell you a flavor name and your brain guess it to be true but it could just be similar but changed with food dye.

that's probably why I'm also seeing a lot of """red velvet"""" flavored stuff as well.

Vanilla and cream/milk.

Chocolate sweetened with something other than white cane sugar, traditionally beet sugar.

Sugar and vanilla, really. It's supposed to give the flavor of typical vanilla frosting and sugar sprinkles

>> No.10653326

That sort of vanilla-y, buttercream-y, taste with sprinkles.

Birthday cake flavor is a pretty shitty flavor honestly, I don't think I've ever had something (that wasn't actually a real vanilla birthday cake) that tasted good as birthday cake flavor.

Vanilla cake with vanilla frosting. Possibly sprinkles. Basically sugar and lard + vanilla.

While we're on the topic of birthday cakes, is there a reason why plain white vanilla cakes are more common for celebrations as opposed to chocolate cakes?

2bh vanilla and sprinkles birthday cake is the most pleb of cakes. even as a child, i thought it was a little bland.

>>10653339
i think it's just wh*tes being obsessed with wh*teness as usual. but it could also be how much chocolate is in everything else, and how few vanilla flavored things are popular, so having vanilla is a novelty. but more likely it's just wh*tes associating wh*te objects with cleanliness and purity rather than blandness and emptiness

Vanilla cake is for whiteys with no imagination, and low-cost caterers, and government workers who still eat in lunchrooms like they never left high school. Also I want to fuck this dessert-based animal.

As much as I like chocolate, I don't care for chocolate cake. Chocolate cheesecake either. Chocolate is better as a frosting/filling/topping for other kinds of cake and cheesecake. The reason though is probably because it's a plain easy flavor.

it's cheap boxed vanilla sponge cake with powdered frosting mixture

it's meant to be a quintessentially american nostalgia flavour, intentionally childish for people who grew up flyover and moved to big cities as adults. it was popularised by the New York bakery Milk which was founded by such a woman, grew up in the heartland and moved to NY to be a chef. She also invented the cereal milk craze.

>She also invented the cereal milk craze.
it's astounding that americans think they invented the concept of having milk and cereal together

have you ever heard of porridge before, or uncooked oatmeal, or any such cereal dish made by mixing milk or cream and oats or barley or whatever? the only reason modern breakfast cereal is actually modern is that it's tedious as fuck to make and is only made cheap by automation, but people have been eating cereals with cream or milk for literally millennia

>> No.10653544

>>10653538

no no, cereal milk is when you use cereal to flavour the milk, and then you extract the milk (now called "cereal milk") and use it to flavour other desserts

>> No.10653551

trendy restaurants in new york do, yes. like making tea but instead of hot water and leaves it's cold milk and corn flakes.

>>10653544
>americans are so stupid they sweeten their milk by adding sugar cereal instead of just adding the same sort of sugar
>americans are so arrogant they think they invented the concept of non-sugar sweeteners

also that sounds disgusting and wasteful anyway compared to just cooking/baking with corn meal or rice flour or whatever with some simple syrup in the first place instead of using Corn Flakes® or Rice Krispies®

i guess it really is true that americans are INCAPABLE of cooking anything that doesn't come out of a prepackaged vacuum sealed bag or box
