I'm going to NYC next month, and would love some food suggestions.

I'm looking to try at least one of:

Mexican
Japanese
Chinese
New Amercian
Soul
Italian (whether Italian-American, or actual Italian)
Peruvian
Jamaican
Polish

I'll be staying in Bushwick, Brooklyn, near Weirfield St and Knickerbocker Av. I'm open to go wherever in the city, as long as it's not super inconvenient from where I'm staying.

I'm also interested in general things to do for the city, as well as nightlife.

Katz's deli and barney greengrass and zabars also good. Get bagels at H&H bagels, they are peerless, pick up some lox and gravlax at barney greengrass, some whatnots and coffee at zabars, then have a picnic in central park and visit the dinosaurs the giant whale and the gem room at the museum of natural history. All these are within a few blocks of each other.
