Anyone got any hot tips for making carnitas?

I've got a whole, bone-in pork shoulder. I rubbed it with chili powder, cumin fresh chopped garlic and oregano. Gonna throw it in the slow cooker with lime juice, orange juice, chicken broth, and quartered onions.

What do you think? Got any hot tipz for me?

I make it similar to that all the time and it tastes bomb. Healthier than regular carnitas but tastes just as good.

Never thought of browning it after but that sounds tasty, would make it taste more authentic

Place pork shoulder, a whole onion, quartered, a can of chipotles in adobe, and 2 cans of dr.pepper (real sugar dr.pepper preferably) in a crock pot on low for 4-6 hours. Done. Makes excellent carnitas.
