What are the options for Americans or Brits looking to buy real potato chips?

i.e. not just a potato flour mixture molded into a chips-like shape, like Lay's or Pringles which both taste nothing like real chips

It's been years since I've been in England. When I was it seemed that reconstituted "crisps" were king, but then again I was a kid at the time so I wasn't the one shopping.

Here in the US there's a huge range to choose from. Most brands are legit chips that are cut from a potato. Pringles and their ilk aren't called "chips" on the packaging because they are re-constituted. Lay's is certainly not the best brand but at least they are actual chips. The market for premium chips is huge and there are many brands to pick from . They are often called "kettle" style chips.

Bong here. As well as being plenty of decent brands of whole-potato crips, the supermarkets own premium crisps tend to be very good also.
Space Raiders are the GOAT though, idgaf

I don't know about on the tiny isle of Bonglandia, but here in Burgerstan the best options are regional brands like Tim's or Zapp's. Or store brand like another anon suggested. Basically any chip company that isn't trying to sell to the whole world, just their little corner of it.

Perhaps Wise, I find them better than Lay's. If you want to get into regional stuff then there's zapps and tons of others and then you'll have to be more specific.

Most potato chips are just potatoes. Adding flour and extra equipment isnt worth the cost.

There are two types one is a mix of things and I think that was the original but by public demand Gardettos did the garlic rye chips alone. They're not easy to find.

Pic related is the original, that's good too, but sometimes the rye chips alone hit the spot.

Where do you live? Both the rye chips and original as well as italian blend Gardettos are super easy to find in CO. Maybe cuz all the stoners? Nah they were easy to find way back when.

I never get the rye chips cuz i think theyd just be boring. They are the best part of the blend but the blend makes them taste extra good.

This will sound strange but what do you define real as? There used to a little joint in Grand Central Station called USA Chips or something like that where they would slice them, cook them, spice them and bag them to order. But then the hipster faggots took over the place and priced them out of existence.

So I unless you mean mass production shit which is pretty much the only thing now, I don't know what the fuck you're on about.

Lays are actual potato slices. Ruffles are the ones made from mashed potatoes.
