Non drinker here, honest question

What pleasure do you get from drinking alcohol? Why do you do it?

Sippin' a bottle of Jim Beam. Bourbon gets me moister than an oyster.

It gets you drunk. If you do not like how you feel sober, alcohol at least give you a sense of control over how you feel.

OP here. I'm by no means an alcoholic, I drink maybe 1 - 2 bottles a year, but usually to get buzzed each time. It's like a little field trip from the standard senses, it can be fun every once in a while. Alcoholism, or at least living day to day in a stupor unable to differentiate reality from not doesn't appeal to me personally. I've yet to find an alcoholic drink I fully enjoy the taste of by itself.

I'm guessing it's a developed taste? I tried scotch but it tastes like licking bark to me
>>10535127
So you're doing it only for the buzz? What do you use for that?

I don't like the feeling of not being in control desu. I'd love to find an alcoholic drink that I enjoy besides beer and mead.

There are a zillion different kinds of alcohol and they taste wildely different from each other. Just because you don't like one doesn't mean you won't like others.

>>the buzz
I'm not the guy you're replying to, but any kind of alchol can get you intoxicated, it's just a matter of how much. Obviously the stronger the drink is the less you need to consume to get drunk. Fastest way to get drunk, if that's what you want to do, is to do a few shots of liquor (Whatever you prefer)

It is an acquired taste but I've met many who just cannot the hang of whisk(e)y's taste. Whisk(e)y makes me think of happy times from the past; it tastes like good memories. Everyone has their own tastes though.

Absolutely agree, when you feel buzzed it can be fun, but it's difficult balance to achieve. Cocktails are a good way to explore harder alcohol. If you have a favorite soda, you can find a good mixer for it.

Being buzzed makes everything to me more enjoyable and you are surrounded by warmth, like being hugged by a cow tit woman. I'm usually pretty fucking bitter and apathetic towards almost everything, but when I drink I feel happy. The only time I really feel happy.

Tecate
My beer snob days are long gone, all I buy now are macro lagers. Went to a Taphouse with like 40 taps and my buddy looked at me funny when I asked for a Miller Lite. Though to be fair I will fuck up a pint of old Rasputin if i see it on tap.
