Does anybody here actually enjoy cooking? For me, it’s just a means to an end.

I enjoy the cooking as much as the eating, and I love good food that isnt available premade anywhere around me for a reasonable price. For example the only lamb around here that doesnt have a 700% markup is a chinese place that slathers it in some nasty Sysco sauce. Try making something that takes some deeper skills than boiling noodles in broth, you might find something you find really fun

Nobody here cooks anymore. Reddit has taken over and uses 4chan as their "kick back and shitpost" website. There was always shitposting, but at least it was cooking related. Now it's all McChicken and soyboy shit.

I enjoy cooking, but I only eat raw food myself.

I enjoy cooking and baking. I like to eat. I like to feed my kid.

I find simple cooking very therapeutic. Some of the more time consuming or technically demanding stuff isn't exactly fun doing it, but it's gratifying when it's done.

I enjoy cooking if it’s something my wife won’t make & I have a drink in my hand.

I enjoy chopping things up, does that count?

I actually do enjoy the process of cooking. Often when I have gone a few days in a row making simple dishes, either due to laziness or time constraints, I'll get a desire to cook something kind of complex.
I also really enjoy baking (even though I kind of suck at it).

Cooking is fun as fuck. Prepping is not as much fun. Worse yet is paying for it.

>> No.10513349

>>10509745
no, not really. starting out i did, but the combined experience of shopping, planning, fridge inventory management, prep, choosing, cleaning, and THEN cooking - well not as fun anymore.

thankfully my sister loves it

I agree with this. It is part of the reason i don't like baking, but i love making things like curries, stir fries, stews, pastas, soups, etc.

I enjoy cooking a lot, and it's why i'll never work in a commercial kitchen.

i do enjoy cooking, if you enjoy doing my dishes. 2 hours of prep, cooking, serving, and dirty dishes/utensils, vs. 10 minutes of being upset with the browning on my chicken or how overcooked my carrots are.

I enjoy it but (American) capitalism squeezes my time to the max so I can't enjoy it as much as I could if I worked just like 34 hours.

Hunter gatherers only did a few hours of work every few days.

I find that following the measurements to a T for couple years was the only way I could build confidence to freestyle.

Competence is confidence.

i used to but im too poor for ingredients and all my cookware is broken because of my shitty roommates over the years breaking everything. but also, i have largely given up on life for other reasons as well, and that extends to cooking. and eating, too. even when i go out to eat, i dont really enjoy it much, at least not as much as i used to

Absoloutely. I find it's a great way to de-stress from a busy workday. Plus it's a great creative outlet.

It sure does anon. I have been collecting knives for 30 years and got into cooking and collecting kitchen knives when I realized that it would give me the opportunity to fiddle around with huge sharp knives for hours and actually cutting stuff. I have 60+ knives in my collection atm.

So really, you enjoy knives, but not the act of cutting things up
