I'm not a picky either, but I've come to realize that Cheese pizza without toppings is the best. Toppings (including meats) are clunky and ruin the balanced dynamic between crust, tomato sauce, and cheese.

If you want veggies eat a toppings bowl (salad) on the side.

Cheese is fine if the crust and sauce are really good, but it also depends on the style. Most pizzas need some kind of topping. Neapolitan and NY-style are fine with plain cheese. Detroit style? Throw a bunch of toppings on there. Sicilian? One or two toppings, sparsely applied. Your average pan-American pie? Definitely toppings, and preferably 2 or more.

Pepperoni doesn't mean little pepper. If you go to italy and ask for Pepperoni you'll get tiny sliced discs of cured meat. Pepperoni may not be an originally italian food, but it's recognized world wide to the point where Italians use it too.
Google any pizza place in Italy that doesn't just stick to the original pizza varieties (ie margherita or marinara) and they'll most likely have Pepperoni

Personally, I order cheese pizza whenever I go to eat at a pizza place I don't know. Technically I order half cheese half pepperoni, but I order it that way because if their cheese pizza is trash then it doesn't matter how many toppings you put on a pizza, it's going to be garbage
