It's not unhealthy and I've eaten it and have made it many times. The way we do it is to make up our fry bread and serve pinto beans, lettuce, tomato, cheese, onion on top of it. Of course add meat if you want. It's one of the cheapest meals you will ever make. Fry bread is flour, salt, baking powder, and water. Made the pintos and grew the veg. I grew up by the Rez, went to many a pow wow, and had many Indian friends and they were always good Happy people.

My last girlfriend was full blood Navajo and grew up on the reservation. For Christmas we spent a few days on the reservation with her family and ate frybread with mutton pretty much every day. I don't know how healthy it is for you but the shit was pretty delicious, and to my understanding easy to make. Would recommend

i recently read an article that the massive societal destruction brought about by whites on native americans, as well as the previous introduction of corn, which replaced a lot of plants because of its high caloric yield, resulted in a variety of native cuisines completely being forgotten and disappearing. the article mentioned that some scientists have been rediscovering various herbs and plants that were eaten in precolumbian times but are now only found as unusual concentrations of now wild plants in areas they may not be native to. also, i think being found in concentrated areas tipped them off to their presence in an area being unnatural.

The tens of thousands of cranberries i picked will be fermented. In the winter, i only eat beaver and porcupine and drink only lake water and cranberry wine. I also make birch syrup.
