I can't speak to Townsend's motivations because I'm not on his crew. Maybe he was and maybe it was, as he claimed in a later video, an unfortunate coincidence of the production schedule. That is known only to him and his crew.
What I do know is that any percieved slight against Donald Trump is met with the butt-clenching, red faced anger of his supporters. The very same people who unironically call others snowflakes. The President is target number 1 for public satire, no matter who is sitting in the chair. The fact that Trump supporters lose their shit at the drop of hat reflects worse on them than anyone else.
