I could get any number of freshly made-to-order dishes from the local Thai, Chinese, Italian, or diner-type restaurants for that, any of which would be highly preferable to Luby's heatlamp/steamtable food.

>>Liver & onions, stuffing, and mashed potatoes comes in cans?
I doubt the liver did. The stuffing almost certainly did. The potatoes taste like instant and every time I've had them were seriously overcooked. Their various veggie sides are obviously out of cans--I recognize that dark green color of their green beans from a mile away.

>>Maybe because they feel like eating food but don't feel like preparing it themselves?
Sure, I can see why people might eat at a restaurant. But why Luby's specifically? The food is very boring and bland. Poor quality too. TV diiner tier. Just about anything is more appealing. Then again I guess that's why they are closing left and right.

>> No.10484988

>>10484884
>local Thai, Chinese, Italian, or diner-type restaurants for that, any of which would be highly preferable to Luby's heatlamp/steamtable food
I guess we have different definitions of "real restaurants". Also, I guarantee they use heatlamps/steamtable foods at all of those, they just don't do it in front of you like Luby's does

>Their various veggie sides are obviously out of cans--I recognize that dark green color of their green beans from a mile away
I will agree that some things like the green beans and corn definitely come out of cans. However, they have a multitude of sides, many of which are obviously not canned. Cabbage, fried okra, roasted cauliflower, collard greens, squash/zucchini, macaroni & cheese, brussels sprouts

>But why Luby's specifically?
Convenience. Variety. Not wanting to go to a normal restaurant and having to deal with a server. No tipping. Cheap. Comfort food. Personal preference. Dining partner's sensibilities. I could keep going. Luby's and restaurants like it have their place in the restaurant industry.

I stand by my original statement - get over yourself, faggot

Hey guys. I'm looking for resources on vegetable heavy meals that are NOT supposed to be healthy.

I really like vegetables, so i searched youtube and google for veggie dishes, and it seems like MOST vegetable dishes have this focus on being healthy.

But i am not interested in them for their health, but their taste. So naturally, these dishes are focused on limiting salt and fat content and shit like that.

Funny though, i search for "unhealthy vegetable dishes" i don't get the opposite. I get results bashing vegetarianism. I mean, i am not surprised in the least, nobody(except fun people) would bill their veggie recipe as "wonderfully unhealthy for you".

But as a consequence i'm having trouble figuring out how to find vegetable dishes which have NO aims at being healthy.

Any ideas? Search terms i didn't think of? Youtube channels you know about that do stuff like this?

Is nobody doing "vegetable dishes with a focus on flavor not health"?

I mean, yes, i CAN just throw in a bunch more salt and oil and shit, but when looking for recipes online in general the goal is more looking for ideas than looking for details, because yeah, aint that hard to cook vegetables.

Poor mans potato salad (vegan)

Crushed up salt and vinegar chips (kettle) smothered with a dressing I make from scratch:
hommus (could use vegan mayo if you want)
lime juice
chipotle paste and/or hot sauce
garlic
tiny amount of water to get it too dressing consistency
mustard pickle relish (optional)

I don't use much seasoning cause the salt and vinegar from the chips counters whatever I didn't put in the dressing

I pour the dressing right into the crushed bag of chips a la prison style burrito and mix. Eat it right away or let it sit for a bit depending on your texture preference

Garnish with diced avocado, spring onion and extra hot sauce (also optional)

Whenever I get sad, my go-to comfort food is 2 grilled lamb chops and a warm, milk-based drink. I'm a barista, and I own a coffee machine, and I like to drink vanilla coffee now and then.

I'm sure this is a side effect of mental illness, but I find myself compulsively drinking frightening quanitities of water when I'm in a major depressive state. Southern food. All day, every day. Barbecue, southern home-style, soul food, cajun-creole, it doesn't matter. Northerners have jack shit for food directly related to their culture.

Pic related, it's cajun-creole.

What I’m saying is that there is not one part of the United States with any semblance of original culture. Not anywhere. Southern culture is ripped from country britain or france (creole). The North is heavily European influenced. The west coast is some weird kabal of Asian/Mexican/Polynesian culture. We’re all just fuckin phonies. America really has no cultural identity outside of the ones we steal. Being an American means nothing.

>because i dont enjoy x, others are mistaken, stupid, or disingenuous to
try for a moment to make analogous arguments about every pleasurable experience youve ever had - every aesthetic experience, whether cinematic, literary, erotic or sexual, natural, virtual, whatever - and youll see the the folly and anti-humanism of this callow attitude of yours towards people who, per their human nature, enjoy satisfying their hunger, and who - in light of that nature - feel inclined to try to refine their sensitivity to certain tastes, experience new foods and cuisines, and try creating their own food things.

being able to judge and discriminate between foods according to their quality and make-up - and being able to replicate or conceive of new foods - is of the same order of phenomenon as being able to judge and discriminate between good and bad works of art, people, sublime or shitty parts of nature, ideas, etc and try creating them yoruself. though each requires its own separate, unique faculties of taste and judgment and sensitivity to sense data (and each to different degrees), each involves the human experience of trying to find joy in life. these are aesthetic phenomena.

if your argument is against people who devote every waking aspect of their to food and who overindulge, i might agree with you. but begrudging someone who wants to try new foods or learn how to make a tasty and satisfying dish that requires a little craft and know-how seems rather unworldly and mean.

to me, you sound like religious people who think that because sex needn't last long and is of a primal and carnal nature, it's a waste of time and energy unless directed solely and exclusively to procreation.

what a puritanical and abstemious attitude to have - a revulsion and aversion to joy and pleasure. you might as well become monks. or go back in time and abort yourself. never exist to begin with.

I agree. Sweet food makes me feel sickly when I'm ill.

Plainish Wholesome meals are the best cure imo, I feel the body needs nutrients and vitamins of some sort, rather than sugar and carbs
