It's a pretty bullshit designation anyway. People born in the 80s have more in common with people born in the 70s than they do with people born in the 90s. They only reason they get lumped together is because the generally agreed upon designation for a generation is 20(ish) years. The more important divider should be if you were born before or after the internet boom.

Proper generation designation never really works until they're all old because you're talking 20-25 year differences on the extreme ends. Millennial just meant person coming of age and still euphemistically means that. The problem is the people that phrase was first applied to are in their early-mid 30s now

But applying a one size fits all characteristic to people who are now 21-36 or whatever is never going to be correct

I was born in 77 and when I talk to anybody born in the 80s we usually have a fair amount of common social and cultural experiences to reference. But talking to people born in the 90s is a whole different ball game. And talking to anyone born after 2000 is pretty much like talking to a time Traveler. They are utterly baffled at the world I come from.
I would still take a conversation with a millennial over a boomer those, because boomers are just insufferable.

The whole notion that each successive generation is supposed to live a different life than the previous one is a retardedly new idea anywway. Right up until practically WWII you lived pretty much the same life as your parents did and it took anywhere from 50 years to a couple centuries for cultural trends to change. So it's no wonder all this generational division is hard to process.
I'm still tired of listening to boomers complain, though.

I've gotta wonder what kinds of things I'll see before I die. My Dad was born in South Dakota in the 1930s and he died in 2003. It kind of blows my mind to think about all the things that changed in his lifetime.
