If you want extra stuff try using the drive through when it's busy. Employees will be too concerned with getting a line moving than doing things by protocol .

-Order Small Fries (or value fries if they have smaller sizes) . When you get your fries dump half it into your bag while the employee is looking then get the employee's attention. Tell them that the bag wasn't filled up all thew way and you want another Small Fries. They will usually comply since giving away small fries isn't a big deal.
-Order a cup of ice at drive through. Then go inside the store and get soda from the dining room soda fountain. The most an employee can do is ask you to pay. They aren't allowed to touch you and even if you are banned it's not like all the employees of every shift are going to remember you and deny you service.
-Order a small combo. If they don't read your order at the window then you can claim you ordered a medium or large. They will usually upgrade your item for free since they don't really have a way to have customers pay the difference and they don't want to go through the process of refunding a customer because their regional manager will get an alert .
-Complain about the price. They will sometimes give you an employee discount or senior discount or a flat percentage discount.
-Wear a security uniform . They will give you a law enforcement discount or at least a free drink.
-Have your parents/grandparents drive the car. You will get a senior discount.

Food discounts are really hit and miss for military. Here in my military town, I'll get offered discounts based on my haircut alone before having to present my CAC card. Once you leave town its a pretty strict no everywhere unless the discount policy is posted by the register.

This will absolutely never work.

At Whataburger, there's no senior discount, but seniors do get free small drinks. One drink per octogenarian.

I can assure you that in multiple stores I used to work at, the general/area managers would take zero shit from obviously conniving customers. As a manager, I let the little ones go, but repeat offenders, and someone obviously trying to get free food, got turned away. This is why there's 3-4 people with a headset (two or more will be team leads or managers) even if they're not at the drive-thru window. The GM will always have a headset on if he's in the store.

You don't waste your time coddling people who are clearly trying to get free shit; they're not going to be good paying customers anyway, and you don't care about them complaining to their trashy friends about it, either. These things might work at a McDonald's or Taco Bell, but in high-volume stores that have a fierce regional loyalty, you don't have to bend over backwards nearly as much.

This is actual good advice for a fast food hack. You pay a little extra for something better, and as a bonus, the fact that it isn't hot-held means you get it freshly made if you're willing to wait slightly longer.

As another example, if you order a "ranchero-style" egg at Whataburger for breakfast on your biscuit sandwich or breakfast-on-a-bun, that means they'll crack an egg and grill jalapenos into it and top the sandwich with salsa. This is an uncommon order, so they aren't made in batches at all. Only costs an extra $0.50 or so.

Definitely order breakfast items with "ranchero-style" eggs if you like jalapenos. My go-to is a jalapeno-cheddar biscuit sandwich, sausage, ranchero egg, monterrey jack cheese substitution, add grilled onions and creamy pepper sauce (it's the sauce on the patty melt).

I like loaded burgers, and you can get as much veggies as you want on the burgers at no additional cost. On a standard burger, I usually ask them to double the veggies, and triple the pickles. I like getting mustard and honey BBQ together for a vinegar/sweet/smokey combo.

It's expensive because of addons, but a Monterrey Melt with bacon, avocado, and jalapeno added will make you orgasm after a few bites.

Always consider Texas toast and wheat buns as an alternative. Wheat buns are especially nice on a Whataburger Jr. with extra veggies.

Yes, if you ask for fries/no salt, they'll likely be dropped fresh. Onion rings are always cooked to order; notice how the cashier immediately yells it back if you order them. Same goes for fish.

Chicken takes 6-7 minutes, so it's always pre-prepped, but shouldn't be held long at all. Don't order Whatachick'n Bites. They're not worth the volume for what you pay.

It's grilled directly on the flatiron under a press, and should take no more than about 6 minutes total there.
