Can some Americans help an ausfag out here.

In Australia we have 'light' beer which is low in alcohol content, ie 2-3%. Then midstrength beer which is 4-5% then full strength which is above 5. But as I understand it in America your 'lite' beer is low carb content but normal alcohol content but you all talk like drinking this lite beer won't get you as tanked and that doesn't make sense to me. We have low carb beer in Aus and it's usually a 'blonde' or something but gets you as drunk as it's normal counterpart because the alcohol content is the same.

Umm. Macro beers are just beers that come from giant brewerys. Like the most popular brands of beer that you can find anywhere, examples would beer Budweiser, Coors, Heineken, fosters.
The opposite of macro would be more obscure beers like craft beer and seasonal beer.

Lager simply refers to the type of yeast used in the beer and also the way the brewery uses it to get the crisp taste.
Just about every macro brewery uses a lager yeast.

To put it simply, there are 2 main types of yeast, lager and ale.
Lager takes more time and is fermented at a cool temperature, the yeast doesn't add much flavour to the beer.

Ale yeast ferments at a warmer temperature and adds fruity characteristics and takes much less time to brew.

It's just done on a massive scale.

Ale yeast brews faster but an ale is best drank as fresh as possible in most cases, a hoppy pale ale or IPA will loose flavour and aroma if it sits in a shop for too long.
I guess it's a supply and demand thing.

What does it mean? Beer Educationlet here.
I used to get the Founders session because its one of the few tallboys they sell at Total Wine, but I stopped drinking it because once it got hand warm it tasted like cheese and felt thick in my mouth

t. underaged. It tastes like water. It's like one step above hamms, which tastes like salty water.

>Session IPA
A session ipa is an attempt to deliver a high hop level and flavor like an ipa but at a lower abv (under 5 compared to 6-8 in an ipa). Its called a session IPA because you are supposed to be able to drink a bunch of them in a drinking “session” but still be functional like at a BBQ or at sports game.
>tl;dr low abv so you can drink a bunch but still taste like a full ipa
T. I own a brewery

is it a good brewery?
How do you make a fruit beer, and how do you make one taste good and actually fruity like Heavy Seas Tropi Cannon?

>> No.10474995

We do pretty good if I may say so.

Fruit beers are done in a variety of ways and I’ll outline a few
>fruit is added to the mash or the boil or both
>fruit extract is usually added post fermentation but before production
>there are also fruit purée s you can added same as extract
>you can add certain fruits during the fermentation but run the risk of infection, rot and mold
>hops there’s a duck load of hops out there and experimental which have all kinds of flavor, I’ve made a beer that tasted like peach ring candies and it’s just hops

>> No.10474998

>>10474995
Also forgot lambics which are basically fruit beers where the juice is the primary source of fermentation, a Belgian tradition but Americans are quite good at it, definitely worth trying

>lambics
Interesting, might try those some times.

Does your brewery get exported nationally? Anyway to try the peach ring flavor you mentioned?

Also, if you don't mind doing so, do you think you could jot out a quick primer on the differences of types of beers? I know IPAs are hoppy, stouts tend to be pretty dark, and ales are kind of middling, but other than what you explained previously i really don't know shit about fuck about beers. Although I've had quite a few different ones

I drank a lot of that. its all about PBR now which im drinking at this moment. I didnt drink this for a while while it was expensive, but now it seems the hipsters have abandoned it, so its uncool again! its less than 5 bucks for a 6 pack of 16ozs in my area. I really missed this beer but couldnt justify paying 9+ dollars for a six pack of it.
fucking hipsters. stay away from normal things and just ferment your own semen. make that "cool", faggots.
