So long atory short, my family is kicking me out. While i can afford rent as i have a pretty good job for a 19 year old, food budget will be a little tighter than im accustomed to. Qhat are some good but inexpenaive food ideas or places known for having good cheap recipes. I can afford the standard stuff but im trying to live below my means as i have $2500 in debt i need to pay off.

Always cook in bulk. Buy large amounts of cheap protein. Trolls weekly grocery ads until you find the place with the cheapest meat special. Aim for $1.77/lb type of deals. Throw that shit in a crockpot with canned or frozen veggies, some kind of stock and some seasonings. Eat off of it all week with potatoes, rice, beans, some kind of starch you can make in bulk also.

You can easily make $30 worth of bulk meat, starch and veg stretch the week. Make sure when you portion out your meals that you load up on vegetables and starch first, but less meat, to make it stretch 2-3 meals a day.

Add bell peppers, onion, carrot and mince beef if you're feeling extravagant.

This is bachelor chow 101.

What's your actual budget per week?

>> No.10448652

>>10448563
I have up to 125 left a week after accounting for bills, but i want to spend much less than that to help pay off debt
Ideally, sub 50
Ill also be living with my gf, but ive found its smarter for me to act as though her money isnt there to help, just in case she ends up out of a job, or we were to split up

> ~$50 per week
So just eat like a king and eat whatever. That's enough to feed three people very well.

Nigga I do perfectly fine with under 20. With 50 you can buy whatever the fuck you want

What kind of shit are you that your family can't deal with you anymore and kicked you out despite the fact that you could actually contribute to the household?

Big bag of rice, big bag of beans, big bag of onions, big bag of potatoes. Whatever spices and herbs you can afford. Consider starting an indoor garden. Keep your eye out for cheap proteins, buy in bulk, eat for the week and/or freeze what will spoil. Cook for each day and plan to have leftovers the next for lunch. Big batch cooking / prepping on the weekends. Crock pots recipes are godsends.

Eating healthy tasty food is often cheaper too. Just have to plan it all out. Check every circular, weekly ad, and coupon books.

If chicken goes on sale for 89c one week buy it all and freeze it. Just keep an eye out. Eggs, beef, everything will drop in price one week out of the month. It'll help you rotate variety and not go crazy just eating beans.

Learn to cook veggies. Tomato cabbage stew is on my menu this week. If I get beef on sale I'll make lentil stew, it lasts a week if I eat it with rice and I eat big.

Stuff like that will get you by easy.

Good stuff here anon. Here are my tips.

Shop in the evening so you can get good deals on marked down foods.

Consider cutting meat down in your diet to save money. Ofc buy non expensive brands even if the expensive ones are "on sale" that week.

If you get DESPERATE for a burger King or macdonalds then they usually have offers on mobile apps.

You can easily make soups with leftover vegetables.

Again, buying eggs in bulk is such a great move, you can do plenty with eggs to make it interesting, really good move.

Avoid sodas or mineral water. If you want something with taste, buy a cheap bottle of lemon juice and add a dash to tap water.

Also not sure why ppl are saying buy your veg in bulk if you're just one person, rethink that because vegetables don't last forever..

The most important tip is to cook yourself and not buy any pre-made stuff. Also plan for a full week or so and try to buy in bulk so that each ingredient can be used in several dishes. Buy a whole chicken instead of different cuts. Learn how to make the most out of your groceries.

Hope things work out for you. Maybe try making cooking part of your relationship. It can be really fun to work together. Flour is cheap and learning to make your own bread will lead to your own pizza, pasta, and so on. You can eat cheaper, healthier, and better than other people if you put your effort into it.

The most costly ingredients are protein, spices, and herbs. If you catch them on sale and grow your own you'll save a lot of money. Then focus your time on improving your career so you can give your child the life they deserve.

Learn to cook with vegetables and meat on the side. It's the healthiest way to eat and the most affordable. Cooking with whole foods only costs more time. Which you can manage by not doing dumb shit all day that most people do.

You can buy roast beef for sandwiches at $7-10 a pound or you can buy a roast for $2-4 a pound. And so on.
