This guy nose. I've always had runny noses with spicy or just hot (temp) food, still eat peppers like a madman, just doesn't seem to acclimate.

utilize an old invention typically called the "napkin"

I fucking hate spicy foods so fucking much. What's the fucking point, other than to prove how 'tough' you are? It doesn't add anything to the flavor or texture or enjoyment of the meal. It's a pure macho man asshole aspect cuisine. And don't try to sell me on endorphins or bullshit like that because I'm not buying it. I've eaten lots of spicy foods and it never made me feel anything other than burning in my mouth.

our entire lives are spent doing such things. we are a slave to basic signaling theory which forces to act in ways that signal our desires to those around us.

So you desire to light your mouth on fire?
Got news for you anon, you don't need food to do that.

>t. tiny little babby
For real though: capsaicin is good for you in at least one way, as it helps act as an appetite suppressant therefore helping you eat less (ideally).

Other than that, and the "variety" factor it provides, there doesn't seem to be much gastronomic benefit from spicy foods.

Or maybe you just don't like spicy foods, and other people do? I'm not trying any ghost pepper challenges, but you're damn right I'm throwing some fresh, whole jalapenos and habaneros in my chili when I make a pot of chili, and maybe some serranos if I want to spice it up a notch.

I don't know why you're getting mad at me. just don't eat it if you don't like it, it's no problem to me. I'm just saying if your nose is running use a napkin

>> No.10445788

You think that's bad? Mine runs whenever I eat food that is warm or hot. It doesn't have to be spicy at all, though I do enjoy spicy food.

you obviously didnt grow up with it, people who do love it....just move on. Dont feel too bad that you cant handle the heat, there are other ways to prove your manliness....

>> No.10446433

You probably can't do anything about it. Different people have a different floor to the temperance of spicy foods.
I can genuinely just start thinking about certain spices and sauces and my scalp will start to get itchy and sometimes sweat, HOWEVER I can handle quite a lot of spiciness, as in keep going to finishing the dish with little to no bitching or things to cool down the burn.

technically, you're supposed to be at least 18 to post here, and it's a very widespread view on /ck/ that putting bear spray on your microwave burgers makes you a real man

For me, the spiciness provides a tobacco-like “high”, distinct from nicotine of course. It’s hard to describe, but it’s more than sensation or flavor. Maybe it’s just the association of aroma and flavor my brain makes with the psychoactive effects of smoking tobacco, but it is of note that peppers and tobacco are in the same family.

I easily buy into the “it releases endorphins without causing major damage” theory. For me, it’s not just about flavor, although I love spicy food for that reason as well.

I get that some people are competitive but I just like some spice in things
A lot of things I make have jalapenos which have a nice amount of spiciness, but not so much that it overpowers everything else
