this summer, i want to grow mountains of zucchini. more zucchini that i know what to do with.

if you lightly salt them and let the water content drain, they firm up and become really meaty. use in lieu of pasta.

Fuck off with that mentality.

Chicken is less than a dollar a pound on sale, and fresh greens for salad won't hurt your wallet unless you shop at whole foods.

Good caesar/ranch/bleu dressing can be a little pricy but nothing compared to almond/flax flour.

Snacks can hurt the budget a little, but the 3g-4g protein bars from costco are usually less than a dollar apeice.

And I hate to reveal my budgeting secrets but if nobody else buys the 70-80% dark chocolate from the dollar store I think they'll stop selling it.

Keto cant save you more money than a cheapskate's bulking meals (beans are always cheap as fuck) but you definitely don't have to pay out for all these meme crutches.

By the way the smart&final sells these low-carb cookies that just barely fit in the budget (carb and $) that dont taste quite right but are great if you can handle it.

There's a lot of evidence to support the argument that the brain simply performs better when burning ketones as opposed to glycogen.

The reason you'd want to do keto from a weight-loss perspective, though, is that it can help lose weight faster. When you eat carbohydrates, your body stores what it doesn't burn as glycogen in the liver. Then, it'll burn that glycogen for energy, and it won't burn fats. Your liver can store about 10-12 hours worth of energy as glycogen, which means that it can be around 12 hours before you actually start burning body fat after eating.

But if you're on a ketogenic diet, you're consuming VERY few carbs, which means you glycogen stores will be low. This means that you'll very quickly start burning body fat after your body has used up the fat you've recently consumed.

Not really. Some types of cancer cells apparently metastasize more efficiently when the metabolism is in a state of glycolysis. Eating little to no carbohydrates may slow cancer growth. In the near future it may be standard practice to prescribe ketogenic diets to chemo patients for more effective cancer treatments. There is no rule that you have to eat red meat or smoked meats on a ketogenic diet anyway. It's about the macronutrient proportions of the person's diet, not the source of protein or fats that matter for dietary ketosis. A person could make better or worse food choices within the diet. Pescatarian, vegetarian, and even vegan diets are compatible with dietary ketosis. I don't have a crusade against carbohydrates in general, but refined sugars appear to be somewhat unhealthy to normal people and exacerbate problems from diseases. Bottom line is I don't think human beings are built to eat refined sugars on a daily basis. I am very suspicious of anyone whose arguments misdirect from that apparent medical truth.

Easy mode? Buy rotisserie chickens, dark green vegetables, eggs, nuts, and cheese from the grocery store. Round out your calorie count with olive oil, butter, bacon fat, sour cream, etc. It really doesn't have to be complicated.

Eventually teach yourself different ways to cook eggs, vegetables, roast your own chickens, fish, beef, and pork. You could also do salads and shit. Good things to eat once in a while to round out your vitamin intake are raspberries and blackberries (surprisingly very low-carb, high fiber, high vitamin C), avocado, and dark chocolate.

For snacks I like to eat roasted pumpkin seeds, raw celery, raw cauliflower, cucumbers, etc. After you do this for about a month your taste buds re-calibrate or something. Everything tastes better. Vegetables don't taste bitter or bland anymore, sugary shit suddenly tastes horrible. It's weird. It's like quitting smoking.

I did keto a couple of years back, and paired with a calorie reduction, I got great results pretty fast. Mostly just stuck to eating broccoli, spinach, eggs, chicken thighs, and occasionally steak. And lots of cheap gin.

This time around I'm branching out. I really wanted some takeout chinese, and google told me that mu shu without the pancakes was a decent choice. Eating that sort of felt like I was eating noodles. Later made a bolognese. I cut a head of cabbage into strips and sauteed for a bit in olive oil, and it made a surprisingly good pasta substitute. Also made an italian meatball and broccoli rabe soup, and fathead pizza. I only cook once a week, and make so much food i freeze it. also tried my hand at my own version of mu shu, and i'm really liking mushrooms now.

Hey guys, can I get any advice on some simple keto meals?

I've been doing keto for a few years now and have made some real progress. I lost so much weight that I actually got surgery to remove some loose skin since I had lost so much. I know it sounds weird asking for advice like stated above but I'm in funk and figure I should just reapproach it again from the start almost like I didn't know anything.

I've been off the wagon lately though and don't even want to weigh myself. It isn't from eating non-keto foods but mostly over my calorie intake and probably too much salad. When I last checked I was at 155, but would like to get to 145. My starting weight was in the 190s. Alos would anybody here recommend doing the water fasting?

Fasting for 1 to 2 days per week is beneficial, but don't be retarded and fast more than that.

scrub the dogshit out of one with CLR and blast it with a hose
what a dumb rule, couldn't it just be a concrete pad where you can use your own grill?
