I bet you idiots think tournament armor is the same as full plate and that people can't maneuver in it.

Firearms simply required less training than a bow, despite it having a fraction of the range. Until skilled smiths increased the carbon significantly in very expensive plates, those firearms would go through armor, making everyone very nervous. An arrow may sometimes pierce plate but at least you'd have a chance to survive. Firearms gave everyone the ability to blow through armor with no experience. And neither weapon worked in the rain so meh.
