When making ramen do you add the seasoning packet to the water before or after you cook the noodles?

>> No.10389460

I've found that following the instructions is your best bet when you're drunk or just stupid.

>> No.10389475

>>10389460
>cook noodles
>drain 80 percent of the water
>mix in seasonings
>drain another 10 percent of the water

This is how I do it for maximum flavor and enjoyment, I find if I add the seasoning beforehand and also don't drain the water as instructed, the noodles end up tasting bland as shit

And the odd thing? It's only when I cook it, I've had other people make me instant ramen basically the regular way and have it be fine, I really don't understand it but I've stopped trying to make sense of it.

>draining almost all the broth and flavor

I'll never understand these ""people"". Just buy some plain noodles and season them yourself if you aren't interested in the ease and convenience of shitty instant ramen; it would be much cheaper and tastier than all that extra effort you apparently go through.

Like I said, that's why I put the flavor in after I drain the water, if anything you're getting more flavor since it's all going to the noodles, not the water they're floating in.

It's also not much extra effort to take the pan off the stove and dump water into the sink for like 2.5 seconds.

I bet you also eat it with a fork.

I typically only add half the packet after the noodles are cooked and season it myself beyond that based on what I want. I only drain half the water and eat it like a soup.

If I want real noodles I'll make rice noodles. I don't bring chopsticks to a ramen party.

Yeah, how the fuck else would I eat them? With Chopsticks? Yeah, cause I like to SLUUUUUUUURP wet noodles and have salty water fly all over the place like a slob. I understand real Asians keeping their traditions, but I'm not about to LARP as one of them and let's face it forks are superior, considering you can just twist the noodles around it and actually get a decent amount in one bite like spaghetti. Convenience and competence > tradition, unless that tradition is actually yours.

While the noodles are boiling so that they soak in the flavor, I add just enough water for it to cook down to the right amount of broth when finished.

I drain the water and add the seasoning directly to the wet noodles.

Here's what I've been doing as of late: Spicy Peanut Noodles for cheap:
- Boil 1.5 cups of water
- Add seasoning packet and noodles
- Cook for 3 minutes
- Drain most of the broth, pour noodles and small amount of broth into a bowl
- Add 2 tsp soy sauce, 2 tsp sriracha, 1 big spoon of peanut butter

Fuck all you fuckers.

You add the fucking seasoning to the fucking water, you boil the water, you all the noodles, you cook for 2-3 minutes stirring gently, you eat the noodles and drink the broth

>> No.10390261

I drain the noodles then add the seasoning packet and whatever else I've got around.

>> No.10390269

drain the water add butter add seasoning

>> No.10390274

It also depends on what's being added, for broccoli which is a nice addition can be added to the water even if drained. Shrimp on the other hand are small and will heat up with residual heat from the pot and noodles.

>> No.10390275

Same with spinach, that's just heat up by residual heat.

i usually add about 25% of the packet when i drop my noodles in the water and add the rest after its cooked
I also don't understand the folks that dump most of the water out. I love sipping my broth while eating it and after if there is any left
also a grilled cheese is better served with ramen rather than tomato soup in my opinion
