Do you do mise en place for home meals?

>> No.10388902

>>10388900

To a degree. Nobody measures everything out and dirties a couple dozen bowls like in that pic, though.

>> No.10388904

Yes. It makes things easier, cleaner, quicker, and the meals turn out nicer because things can be done in a more timely manner.

>> No.10388921

Nah, only if I'm making stir fry or stuff where timing matters, otherwise there's no point and even wasteful
Or I might do it if I'm making a /ck/ook-along :3
Imagine how pointless it'd be to do this for most soups:
>cut everything
>use up 6 extra bowls
>throw everything in at the same time anyway

>> No.10388940

Yes, but I check my recipe and put ingredients in the same bowl when they're getting added at the same time.

>> No.10388943

That's what chicks are for, they can do the cleanup when us guys do the cooking.

>> No.10388947

That's why chicks have small feet, it get's them closer to a sink so they can do the dishes.

There's a fine line between it being a convenience and actually doing more work than is necessary.
I think separating the ingredients into groups that go into the pan at the same time works for me. Anymore is pointless effort.

Tryhard fag
t. former prep cook

>> No.10391727

Sonetimes yes, sometimes no. Depends on how elaborate of a dish I'm making. I do make sure I have all my ingredients out every time, though. But that's not mise in place, that's just making sure I have everything.

>> No.10392306

To a degree. I make stir fry a lot, so chopping everything up beforehand is really useful. I'm also an obsessive perfectionist when it comes to anything that gets cooked in on the stove, so I pre-measure and prepare everything for that as well.

Some people actually enjoy being well planned and orderly in their hobbies. There's no reason to be mean about it, jerk.

If someone else cooks for you, and then you don't help clean up afterwards, you unilaterally become a worthless faggot.
