So what?

Fresh beef will be better than an equivalent frozen patty but there's nothing wrong with cooking on a flattop.

Seared with full contact on metal is superior to grilled with direct metal contact only on certain spots

WRONG (objectively) you don't get those beautiful grill lines on a fried burger. The grill lines are not just aesthetic but they help with the balance of the burger. It is nice to taste. Fried burgers are ugly and swimming in their own fat. Terrible and unbalanced.

I'm confused, is grilling a burger on a flattop grill considered frying it?

Using a flattop isn't frying.

If you're willing to sacrifice the taste of a proper sear for muh aesthetic lines then you don't get to have an opinion.

Searing doesn't work on ground meat like it does with a steak

Why the fuck should I care about cosmetic grill lines on something you wont even see because of the buns? An even sear is more important.
