I do know that back in the 50s and 60s the housewifey thing to do was to make a lot savory gelatin dishes with plenty of aspic (pic related: jellied beef mold) and luncheon meats like spam

Thanks for being so interested in my home country! I think it's pretty swell myself. I understand how the internet can make some things sound pretty wacky, but don't worry, I can clear it up.

No, nobody in America eats things like that anymore. Most of our parents aren't even old enough to have eaten things lile that when they were kids, it has been so long since that dish has been popular.

I'm always glad to help out an Americanophile! I tried to keep the language pretty simple because I know a lot of foreigners are just learning, but let me know if you need me to explain anything.
