Have my first all grain pale ale ageing a bit, needs about another week before it's good.
Still debating on the next one, had pic related which was good, want to see if i can recreate it. I've made IPAs but not dark IPA and i'm not sure how close the hops i can get will be.
Planning on joining a brewing club to talk to people who know a bit more
>What's your favorite style? Least favorite?
Good Double/Triple IPAs are great, a lot of them seem to half ass a bit on flavour and your just left with a strong sweet alcohol taste without anything to back it up

Still haven't really found a lager that i like.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Rick and Morty. The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer’s head. There’s also Rick’s nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realise that they’re not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Rick & Morty truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn’t appreciate, for instance, the humour in Rick’s existential catchphrase “Wubba Lubba Dub Dub,” which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev’s Russian epic Fathers and Sons. I’m smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Dan Harmon’s genius wit unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools.. how I pity them.

And yes, by the way, i DO have a Rick & Morty tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It’s for the ladies’ eyes only- and even then they have to demonstrate that they’re within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand. Nothin personnel kid

It doesn't have a hell of a lot of flavor complexity and is overly sweet. This year's version is even falling into the weird adjunct (mexican? Chai?) approach. Update: had an Abt 12 and the Weihenstephaner last night (plus a couple Bitburgers to separate them). Both were glorious. It's dangerous how well hidden the 10% ABV of the Abt 12 is, I'd happily enjoy the beer if it were half as strong (although not for the price point). I'm drinking another as we speak. The Weihenstephaner took over as my favorite hefeweizen and probably my favorite German beer overall. My only regret is not buying more. Still haven't tried the DT, gonna get around to it today or sometime this weekend.

Almanac is pretty good. Also would be worth trying some classic Belgian lambic or gueuze. Some American lambics/gueze are starting to call their beers "Mèthode Traditionnelle" in an effort to not piss off their Belgian friends but its the same stuff

If you are looking for less intensely sour, and more affordable stuff look for some kettle soured stuff. kettle soured meaning the sour fermentation happens in the kettle before the primary fermentation, as opposed to traditional sour beer where the beer is aged with acid forming bacteria (and usually wild yeast too), usually in wood, which can take a really long time relative to normal beer. Often, kettle soured stuff will not advertise itself as such, but its generally a good guess that it is kettle soured if it is the same price as base tier craft beer (such as most gose)

Post THE WORST beers you've ever had.

This is a shitty Ukrainian beer I found in my local. It literally tastes like cheap, vaguely beer flavoured soda. I actually think it might not even be safe to drink. It also leaves an aftertaste that really makes me wonder if they had all the brewers spit in every batch. On the plus side it's cheap as hell and is strong for a beer.

I like Belgians on the lighter end of the spectrum, like Duvel and Affligem. Not a bad way to get acquainted.

Spotted Cow is great for what it is, and it was great at getting older people that only ever knew shitty beer to start drinking better beer. It has actually outsold Bud Light in Wisconsin for years now, which is insane given that they spend almost no money on advertising and the Bud Light is the single best selling beer in 48 states

I'd never buy it to impress someone who is really into beer and trying new things, and New Glarus makes many, much better beers, but its really solid for what it is, and basically on tap in every restaurant and bar in the state now, even most shitty mexican restaurants that don't have any good beer otherwise

It's popular because average beer drinkers can appreciate it's light taste and drinkability. On the other end, someone who has decent experience with all types of beer can really appreciate the simplicity up front, but the accessible complexity if you choose to try to analyze it. It's really a well made beer on all fronts. Not the greatest, but I'd argue it still is great.
