out of curiosity, I just had to know, how do you make a tortilla at home, and I never even considered that to be an option.
so... looking it up, 3 cups of flower makes 20+ tortillas, and some incidentals.
5lbs of flower, 3$
incidentals, 1$ at most (amount you use not what you need to buy, but you likely already have these anyway)
and all it takes is a bit of time.
I'm not going to completely toss the idea of tortilla machine out the window, 1 minute per tortilla to cook sounds like a complete plain in the dick to me, if they made this and it was
'put ingredients in here' or 'put dough in here' and it will shit out cooked tortillas, I could see this being a good thing in a house that eats a lot of them. would be nice to either just put ingredients in or prep and put it in and have a machine do the rest, but fuck me this thing is retarded.
Personally, I have been getting sick of store bought tortillas, they either are too stiff, or they are already crumbly (some of the time already feel they are expired) and because I go out for groceries once a week, not the moment I need them, they can age and fuck up before I use them. I can totally see the use of this and may even consider one if you added dough you made or you provide ingredients, not fucking packets.
With that bit for rant out the way, anyone know a good tortilla recipe that doesn't need lard? just doing a cursory search i can find a few but I want to know from people who may have experience, I want the tortillas to be really flexible for burrito wraps. I don't really use much meat, but I do put a good amount of cheese on them and try to wrap it tight. think the size of two thumbs worth of filling... fuck I have no good way to describe it.
