It reminds me of a dish that's becoming popular here in central California. It's from the Philippines, called sisig fries. Basically, you make a big tray of crispy thin french fries (thin, not the thick British chips or American steak fries). Then you top them with sisig, which is a mix of chopped up steak or pork (or a mix of them) plus a lot of seasonings (lime juice, soy sauce, onion, garlic, etc) and ranch style dressing. It's great stuff. At the hospital where I work, when we have dept parties or pot lucks, we always get a big tray of it from one of the philippino caterers in the area.
